Question Flowmaster vs Borla vs Magnaflow

What's the least restrictive one especially at high RPMs?

I just have experience with the straight through type (Billy Boat). It's nice but a bit loud and drones at highway speed.

Is there a muffler that has low pressure drop and low noise?

Also, OP...how old is the muffler on the car? They should really be replaced with every spark plug change.

You forgot to put Hooker on there. Hooker Aero Chambers are the best sounding muffler on an American V8.

What kind of car? Look into AWE they have drone canceling technology in them and sound really good, I made 901 rwhp on my turbo Camaro through them on low boost.

I ran the Loudmouth exhaust on my 2000 Z28. It was basically bullet mufflers. It had a great spund at idle and screamed I'm the upper RPMs. On my 2013 Mustang GT and now my 2019 F150 (5.0 V8) I went with Flowmaster. They have a nice rumble and sound great at WOT. I listened to Borla and they had a bit better sound quality but it wasn't enough to offset the higher price IMO.
On my truck I did a dual exhaust from the cat back and deleted the resonator. Next up after I give it the bumpasaurus mod, I think I am going to add headers.

I have absolutely no logical reason to put headers on a 4 door 2 wd 1/2 ton so it will probably happen.

If I can swing a Whipple I will do that as well.

I like stupid things they make it more fun.

I always thought the Fbody Borla's sounded like shit.

I had the original loudmouth (which wasn't even bullet mufflers, it was a straight pipe lets be honest) and it was good on a stock manifold setup but way too loud with headers.

Ran the Magnaflow for the past 10 years or so and liked the tone, but fitament wasn't always great. Last Sunday I had the car out and suddenly got a lot louder, the weld on the muffler from the 3" inlet completely cracked off. So have a TSP catback showing up this week now to replace it.

Flowmaster had a rep for eating horsepower on Fbodies, and of course being the Cleetus of muffler choices for Fox 5.0's.

OP have you considered a dual setup with flowmaster on one side and borla on the other?

that way you get the best of both sounds

I have the Hooker Aerochamber on my T/A because I wanted it to be loud. When I want it to hurt, I open the cutout.

Borla is terrible. The exhaust is pretty good though.

I had a lot of mufflers. I started with a QTP, then got a GMMG, gave it to a friend when I got the 4" mufflex.
I didn't love it and built true duals with a Flowmaster on each end.

and really should put the old spark plugs into the exhaust, the extra parts rattling around give it a distinct sound people will look at and be amazed by

I'm glad to see the poll at least gives a definitive answer to the question.
