    So, I bought a truck...................

Little bit of background here.............The last truck I bought brand new was back in 2009, I picked up a Z71 Silverado LT and daily drove it until August of 2019. I was working a temporary assignment in Orange, Tx at the time and my youngest son needed a truck so I passed the Z71 on to him and I picked up a 2009 Tacoma with 85k miles for $14k. My Texas assignment ended this past December and for the past few weeks, I've been keeping an eye on the used truck market and last week I made up my mind not to put it off so started looking more seriously. I don't need 4x4 and I was really wanting something nice, all/most the bells'n whistles, low mileage........something that the girlfriend & I can travel in with the girls and so on. Looking out 100 miles from my zip code, I was finding lots of really nice Sierras and put together a short list of trucks to go look at. I ended up with a 2015 Sierra SLT Texas Edition in Iridium Metallic over black leather, polished snow flake wheels, 5.3 w/6 speed and 53k on the odometer.

I love it The infotainment system is a little dated but works properly and syncs with my Pixel 5 with no issues, it has the parking sensors, lane keep assist & collision warning system. I would've liked to have another sunroof (my Z71 does) but it does have the power, sliding rear window. There is something on/in the pain running down the passenger side below the rocker panel that I'm going to have to get removed so the dealership took $1k off our final price. Other than that, it's just about as perfect as you can get for a 6 year old truck.

Took this at the dealership Friday evening, this is the paint issue on the passenger side

    Congrats.
I was going to start out by saying stupid shit like "it's not a bagged'n dropped C/10 or a RCSB with twin Tokyo Twirly boyz" but I figured I'd just get to the point

Easily the best looking trucks of this recent era.

Can't imagine how GM went from the best looking gen, to the worst.

I’m actually digging the new tahoes now that I’m seeing them more often. At least some of the trim levels anyway. It’s a sharp looking truck. Just wish GM would put a turbo 6 gasser in for us high altitude folks.

    Love that body style.

Hopefully the issues of the '14-15s don't pop up or they've already been addressed.

Freaking love the new Tahoe I've seen a few Z71's out in the wild and they look so good in person.

I got a warranty just because of the '14/'15 issues, hopefully I don't need it.

I would cream myself with excitement if GM put something like the ‘21 F150 engine (the new 3.5eb with hybrid motor, bad mofo) in the Tahoe. If they released that tomorrow I’d trade mine in for it

My dad has an '18 6.2L 8 speed

He's loved it. Put a fold-a-cover on the back and it's been great. So far, no issues w/ the transmission.

I think the running boards will stay on mine for now. At some point, I may lower the rear just to get a leveled look and if I do that, I'll take running boards off.

I think it looks so much better w/ the running boards off, but my parents need them since they're older, so function > form.

Just don’t let your boy make any suspension choices for your new truck.

    Did you dump her yet?

Also, if the truck hasn't had the ATF swapped to the new stuff, get it done when you can...sooner the better. (assuming 8spd)

You're good on the 6spd. The 8spds are the ones having fluid issues. Continue on.

    Mike,

I would consider throwing a tru cool 40k trans cooler on it

Dropped the transmission temps on the brazzers bus 30 to 40 degrees on average

There’s nothing wrong with an upgraded trans cooler, but if you aren’t towing with it or modifying it the factory cooler will be fine.

Towing is the main reason I did it. But with the heat and humidity down here in the summer months even normal driving in stop and go traffic it would get warmer than I liked to see

According to GM the temp is within spec up to like 230 degrees or something

    no thx geoffrey

Right now, I'll mostly be towing my boat which is just a 16' mud boat that's maybe a 1000 lbs. for boat & trailer and I'm not towing that far. If, in the future, I get a bigger boat, I can justify an upgraded cooler. I don't do a whole lot of bumper to bumper driving either.
