In the ongoing effort to find my Step-Dad a fun Mopar, I've found this beauty.....

A 1970 Challenger T/A 4 speed that a buddy of mine has. Matching numbers driver quality car. Could use a repaint to be super nice but imo, it has character with the old dings and scratches on it.

Killer car that drives great. His birthday is this weekend so maybe he'll buy it as a gift to himself. We looked the car over today and it's awesome.

These pics are several years old from before my buddy bought the car but it still looks like the same. He has since gotten it running better since he's owned it.

If he gets it, I don't think we would ever get it painted. It's a nice 10 footer. The top is original and even if we painted it, it would get a new white top because that's how the car was ordered.

My dad ordered his w/ a vinyl top and when it came in, they had left that off. He was later glad it didn't have it.

I don't really care for them, but like Gearhead said, if it came that way, I'd probably leave it that way unless I was going to completely redo the entire car.

I'd get a new lever and change it to a ball, I highly dislike handles on a manual shifter... unless that was factory then I'd deal.

It definitely needs some orange valve covers. Other than transmission, I'm not sure that there is a break down of colors and options for the T/As. Less than 1000 4 speeds were built.

I forgot to mention that the car also has the original broadcast sheet.

I love them in the E-bodies. Those long, awkward looking B-body pistol grips are terrible though.

At most I would swap it for a shifter I liked and store the pistol grip somewhere safe like previously memtioned.

He's retired and since there's a new lake going in just yards from their property, he's thinking he wants a new bass boat. He's pretty tight so I'm not sure he'll splurge for both.

Both are righteous automobiles in their own way. I have a big soft spot for a nice Mopar, but there is no denying that the Chevelle is a sweet ride too. High winding 6-bbl small block or the big block torque of the Chevelle...tough call for sure. 440-6 or even a 440 Magnum in the Challenger and it's no contest.

I personally prefer a '67 Chevelle over the later gens, but I do get what cuda is saying, in terms of being at car shows. They're usually not going to warrant a second look, but it's like anything else. A group may love them and others may not.
