Thoughts on this 69 Tribute T/A?

Never really cared much for 1st Gen birds, but it might be a fun toy if I can get it for a decent price

Unfortunately, it has an SBC, which of course would have to be ripped out for a Poncho motor

Was originally a vinyl top car, so has a bit of mud up there

If you had to put a realistic value on it, what would you pay

Looks like a pretty nice driver. Prolly a easy sell at 25k.

It's nothing special, but if I can get it for a good price, I figure I can have some fun with it and flip it later on

It looks pretty decent. Needs a few things to finish off the look like the correct steering wheel, the middle spoiler stanchions should be the same blue as the stripes, needs the badges in the tail panel and I'm not sure that the blue they used back there is the correct color.

He says it's rust free Arizona car, but it's in Jersey, so I won't know until I take a look

    Asking $18,500

I figure if I can get it for $15k it'll be worth it just to play around with

It definitely doesn't look like just a basic Firebird. It has the hood, fender scoops and spoiler like a real Trans Am does.

If it's rust free, $18,500 seems like a decent deal. Especially if you don't have to spend a bunch of money on it. I guess it depends on how stout that engine really is and what the trans and rear are. Things worth checking into are whether the hood and spoiler are aftermarket or if they're real GM. That shit isn't easy to find now and if that car was cloned a long time ago, when GM parts were available, then the value just went up.

Steel hood (not sure if aftermarket)
Runs and drives, but needs a battery and taillight wiring

It's a 1969, the wiring isn't that hard to figure out.

I rewire busses and trains on a daily basis, so no big deal

You should've seen the hack job they did on my Road Runner

Most of the harness was zip tied to the wiper linkage

Looked like a bunch of spaghetti dancing back and forth whenever it rained

If you can get it for 15 you buy it. Hell even 18 will be a money maker when you decide to sell it.

If it was an actual original ‘69 Trans Am hood, the hood by itself would be worth damn near 20K.

I like it. I say you get it and convert it to a 4 speed (or 6 speed). Autos aren’t nearly as much fun

Judging from the pics $18,500 is a very good buy for that car. Iíve seen much much worse go for more. Unless it just bad lighting, the tail panel appears to be the wrong shade of blue. Not hard to fix. It should be Tyrol blue iirc. Odd thing is the stripes appear to be the correct shade

Btw if you have any leads Iím looking for a Ď70-Ď72 TA. Preferably a 4 speed car. Howís your Ď70 coming along? Is it done? Itís been years since Iíve seen a picture of it.

    That's crazy

I agree on the fun part, but I'd probably just do a manual valvebody to keep it simple

Yeah, the color does look off, but an easy fix

My RA4 is still waiting to be restored

Took a few days in October to get her in one piece for transport to another shop for restoration whenever a slot opens up

I have since added a sister car to the family though

All numbers matching RA3, 4-speed, one owner from birth until 2015 when he passed

all stuff you can easily buy from the aftermarket and slap it on. I just wouldn't look at it unless I had a pontiac engine/trans/rear laying around waiting for a home and got it for $10k. Just my opinion

Are you still looking for any hard to find parts for the restoration or do you have everything? If there are parts you find out here in CA that you need that people wonít ship just let me know and Iíll help you out.

I have a spare 400 with a set of 6X heads sitting in the back of my shop as well as an extra set of 614 heads on the shelf I can slap on it

He doesn't know what rear it has, but says the TH350 is a BOP

She's a one owner Canadian car and super clean cause she spent most of year locked up in a garage

What's crazy is how well documented she is

Got a big 3 ring binder with all info dating back to the build sheet, original bill of sale, protecto-plate, warranty paperwork and receipts for everything all the way up to the original owner's obituary

Recently appraised at $80k, but she's not for sale (at least not for now)

As for parts, I'm looking for an original 12-Bolt as mine walked out of my shop years ago, but I'll most likely just upgrade to a Moser or Strange

All original primer too (bottom end hasn't been restored)

I've got a TH400 out of a 68 GTO sitting in the garage that needs to be gone through if you are interested. Also an auto out of a 98-02 Camaro, and an R200 out of an 86 Monte SS. I might part with those too.

I was hoping go get him down to $15k, but he's not budging from his bottom line of $18.5, which I still feel may be worth it, but just not in the cards for me as I have to figure in transport to Florida as well as a Poncho swap

I would buy it all day long at 18.5. Find another in that condition for less. That is assuming it isn't molded out of bondo though.
