Yep, big time. The 6R80 is good for 700WTQ in stock form and about 1K hp. The factory a650 even after being built pooped out after 2 months of driving at only 19PSI (550whp).
Especially around Detroit, I have a trans that I can find plenty of parts / replacements / etc for, and it is a 6 speed. The shifts are definitely faster and keeps me perfectly in peak power band which is huge.
The biggest advantage is old trans tech vs new...
I have full control of shift points, shift firmness, TCC lock, a transbrake is built in, and I can switch performance maps on the fly. (So it can be like a factory luxury car, or full race mode)
