    Battle of the 1980s G-Bodies

Which 1980s G-Body reigned supreme brougham?

Obviously, the GN has the most power. So let's say they've all been LS3-swapped, or have equivalent power one way or another.

    Monte Carlo SS

    Oldsmobile 442

    Buick Grand National

Yea GN will win it because it's a GN.

I like the early 80's Hurst Olds/442 and since the guts are getting swapped in this scenario, that is my choice.

Has to be the GN, the 305 and 307 in the other two were like fucking 16 second cars.

There was a 3 way comparo in Car and Driver but I can't find a digital version online anymore.

    all G-bodies are whitetrashmobiles.

the A-body is the only acceptable "full size" car GM made then.

You got that backwards. A-Bodies of that vintage are White Trash mobiles. G-bodies are the Supreme Broughams of the hood. I'm rollin' in da hood. Love me some 80s G-Bodies.

But what do I know? I rubberneck when I see a ragged out 80s Sunbird...

My buddy Joe had one of those. We almost died several times in that POS. It handled like it was sitting on 5' springs.

After 85mph the aerodynamic front of the Monte SS really shows the difference, my buick is a floating brick after that where my monte was stable at 135mph.

I owned that same car in tan or gold with those wheels. If I remember right, it was a '79 or 80 with a 267, 4 spd manual transmission. It was only like 6 or 7 years old but had 300K on it., had it only a month before flipping it. I had never seen a manual transmission on of them before, I had to have it.

The Monte's were an awesome family car too. We would be able to fit the playpen, high chair and stroller in the trunk.

the picture provided is NOT an Olds 442.

The 442 was the best looking by far, IMO. The GN still wins. Too bad you couldn't get the Gn drivetrain in the 442......
