How does a designer even think those wheels look good. And they get approved.

What's the point of that thing? Seems less practical than a crossover, and more dorky looking. At least if you buy a generic crossover, you blend in with the 2398234798235798342789241978 others out there and nobody notices you. That ugly ass thing? Sticks out like a sore thumb.

I understand the point of a unibody, fwd pickup. I just don't understand why they make ugly ass ones. Make one that actually looks good.

It isn't as horrible as I thought but you would be mad dum to buy this unless they are going to start at 15 grand and top out at 18 for the highest level trim.

Obviously that won't happen and it will come in priced at F150 XLT money. If this thing is in the 30s it makes no sense to buy it.

I like it. The problem is with my 20 Santa Fe, I put a 6 person dining room table in it, though I had to remove the legs. That would be trickier with this, it would have to be in the bed with the tailgate up so it's sticking up and out, and ratchet strapped in, or with the bed down and ratchet strapped in. With my Santa Fe, I just folded down the back seats, slid it in and shut the hatch.

It needs a removable rear window and midgate like the avalanche. I miss my avalanche

Have you seen what new xlt f150's are going for? Most around me are 55-60k.

I was OTD for a crew cab F150 with the 5.0 V8, 10 speed trans, tow package, 1/2 ton in the 30s. Sure you can option them out and hit 70s if you want, but there are plenty that aren't that pricey. The STX package is great, unless you just have to have leather and other tidbits like cooled/heated seats.

Well, I didn't want one without them but I wasn't ready to fork over the extra cash for one that had them. I can do quite a bit with the $10k extra it would have cost me to get a 6.2 Silverado with heated/cooled seats.

Maybe up in your neck of the woods it is needed, not much need for heated seats in TX. Air cooled seats are cool, but not when you have to buy a whole package to get them and what should be a 500 buck to a grand upcharge ends up adding 6 grand plus. Then the cloth seats are naturally cooler than leather. My windows are tinted as dark as the law allows and I put a 20 buck sun screen in the windshield so the interior never gets that hot anyway.

Not saying I wouldn't appreciate the bells and whistles of a platinum or limited series, but the STX gave me a that I needed.

Sounds like someone who should not be ordering a new vehicle

No I am someone that doesn’t put my family into financial hardships because I have to keep up with the Joneses. I am probably way more Mike Hawk than Mike Hawk is, I just don't flaunt my shoe racks and washer mods.

Besides I like having the ability to have my wife in something nice and dependable too. So it doesn't bother me to have a cloth interior truck since that keeps my budget on point so I can put her in a new whip soon.

Now I ain't a hypocrit, if I leave teaching and get into a field with much higher income then yeah bring on the leather, air-conditioned seats with the built in back and butt massagers.

If the most you will do is carry a couple bags of mulch in the spring or tow a trailer large enough for your kayak then this vehicle makes sense.

"referring to the Santa Cruz as a Sport Adventure Vehicle and not a pickup truck. We don’t know what the reason for this is, but the Korean automaker is coming across as a little defensive here and not as a niche-maker."

Wait..why with the steps? This thing isn't that much taller than a car?

isn't it just a crossover with a modded body? you've got to be pretty short to need a step to get into a crossover. maybe for windham?

I don't see an issue calling it a Sport Adventure Vehicle. That at least seems closer to being the case than calling it a truck. And I wouldn't say Hyundai is being defensive here... They simply know what the vehicle isn't... and that's a truck.

I don't need a step to get in a crossover.
