    New summer daily

Decided I didn't care for the Challenger and plan to sell it in the spring so I needed to find it's replacement. Started looking about a month ago and came across this K5 a couple weeks back. After some talking the seller and I agreed on a price so I flew out Saturday morning to pick it up. He did a full restoration on it, although it was rust free (Arizona blazer originally) it was 30 years old. He basically replaced everything top to bottom and swapped in a 2009 6.2 and 6L80E out of a Denali. My buddy and I drove her back 700 miles on Sunday, it really drives pretty well for it's age
I can't wait for summer to get here so I can start driving it. Definitely way different than the 392 TA but I've wanted a nice square for a long time. Couldn't be happier. With square bodies getting so out of hand price wise I figured if I didn't make a move now I'd never own one.

Excellent choice on the engine swap.

I’m just shocked, absolutely shocked, that he didn’t choose to wait and swap in the new ford 7.3 though.

$19,000, really not bad for what it is. We probably averaged 90mph on the drive home which really speaks volumes on the quality of work the dude did. It ram straight as an arrow at 90, we had it running as high as 105 trying to beat a snow storm.

Yeah, that clean with an LS Swap, you could easily sell it for a lot more here in Michigan. Sweet ride.

It has Dakota digital gauges that record all sorts of stuff, recorded top speed was 158. I told the guy he had balls of steel for that.

Thanks guys, definitely happy with it. Can't wait to get to work on making it my own.

Interior will swapped out to newer Tahoe seats this summer. Seats look nice but they're horribly uncomfortable.

12.5 at 80-85 and 11.7 at 90-95, really not too bad there either. He said it gets 20-22 at 55-60

Yeah, that'll get changed as soon as I can find an exhaust shop that doesn't suck. Been trying all day today but they all suck.

No clue if it really went that fast. Could've been on the Dyno when it was tuned. That's just what it says.

Which would be close enough to 100 mph to be believable.

It was definitely in mph but definitely could've been on the dyno. He just laughed when I said he had balls of steel.

At 105 it was still pulling hard, it had plenty left in it. From what I can tell it should be 360-370 at the tires. It trapped 100 in the 1/4 according to the PO, he took it to the track 3 times. I can't imagine it's any fun but whatever floats his boat, probably hurt a few feelings getting beat by a big box on wheels.

With a tune and bolt ons they should be in the ball park. Blazer might weigh a little less than a crew half ton but probably not much.

    Yes.

    The old 6.2 in a qc truck was a mid-high 13sec/100mph truck.

14'+ are low 13s,and dip into the 12s with a tune.

Gauges are really nice at night. You can't read them at all during the day, it's really unfortunate because they're fancy as hell. They do all sorts of stuff and even integrated with the 4x4 and 6 speed manual shifting.

Ordered a new dash pad from Cheyenne truck parts, hoping it's better than the horrible LMC trucks pad that is in it now.

Well it was fun while it lasted, it won't start tonight f me.

Everything happens like it should but it won't roll over. Fuel pump runs, ignition clicks under the dash, but no click at starter. Hopefully something stupid/easy. I started to pull the dash and interior after it wouldn't start so I'll have to get back to it at a later date.

It'll be a few days before I do anything with that. All the Dakota digital stuff is out now for the interior removal. I don't want to hook the battery back up until it's wire again. Ordered a new console, all the interior trim, and pull straps today. He dyed all that stuff and I just didn't care for the look.
