Maybe not the wisest purchase I've made, but probably the most fun one...

Got rid of the Grand Cherokee, picked this up...

2016 Hellcat, Laguna Leather, Harmon-Kardon Audio, Sun roof, cf stripes.
Been driving it for a couple weeks now... over all impressions are; this car is ridiculous and Dodge has no business building these things
I fucking love it. Yes, this is a horrible time of year to by a 700+hp RWD car, I am an idiot

Don't mean to be a debbie downer but those have the summer perf tires on em? Should probably switch to all season/snows to avoid compound cracking
Pirelli's warranty does not cover tires that develop compound cracking due to use in ambient temperatures below 45° Fahrenheit (7° Celsius), so the P Zero, like all summer tires, is not intended to be driven in near-freezing temperatures, through snow or on ice

The Charger is far more practical than the Challenger. I just wish that it too had a manual option.

Awesome! Now go get some wider (10.5") replicas for the rear and slap some sticky 305s or 315s (with a spacer) on them!

Plenty of back seat room for the child in her booster seat

The auto 8 speed is pretty damn impressive. I've never drive a super car before, but in track mode the thing feels what I'd imagine a supercar feels like. It shares the transmission with Rolls Royces, Bentley's and Audi's. I don't get why they don't make it an option, but I also don't feel like I'm missing out on anything at all.

IIRC, it was b/c they'd be altering the structural integrity of the car & they'd have to go through the crash tests, etc all over again. Decided it wouldn't be worth it due to how few they'd sell.

Ah, I hadn't heard that. I could see that being plausible though. I'm sure manuals in 4 door sedans aren't super popular no matter the car.

I'm a huge fan of a manual in anything and everything, but if ever there was a case for an auto, the ZF 8spd is it.

Especially since almost no one can get an auto to shift right these days.

I don’t think there’s a single manual offered in full size sedans? The M5 was one of the last ones left but BMW stopped offering it recently.

I played with one in the Mustang recently. It was quite obvious that he had nearly 300+ more HP than I had in the 'Stang.

I think we were neck and neck up to about 2k RPM in 1st gear.

Sounds like the time I raced a Supra out on Westeimer and totally missed it was a turbo car after destroying an N/A one a few weeks prior

I raced on Westheimer almost every weekend my jr. and sr. year of high school. I saw some legit cars out there back in those days. Usually after 11 PM the big boys would roll up and the HS kids (like me) that just thought they were fast would get smart enough to shut up or get embarrassed. The first time I raced a guy that did a wheel stand when the light turned green was a butt puckering moment.

Accurate It was good up until around 01-02, I think that's when they had the big "bust" at Home Depot.

I remember the good ole days of cruising. Both of the big ones around here got shut down here in the mid '00s.

In the midst of a bunch of idiot ricers racing in the middle of town, I got pulled over by two officers and written a citation for for... no front plate. Teufel Hunden was with me at the time and we were both like Thanks alot officer fuckface.

I stopped street racing (mostly) way before then, for me it was '93. I watched a 2 kids die in a bad wreck right in front of me. It tr turned out the driver was the son of a cop. Cops came to work the scene and one officer told me and some others (that were just sitting in a parking lot talking) that the shit was about to hit the fan for street racers in Houston. That was enough for me, I heeded the warning and took the car home.

I considered trying Rankin Rd. but the following weekend several buddies got caught up by the police. Cops rolled up and blocked everyone in and then just went down the line handing out huge tickets and impounded a few as I remember.

I have toyed with a few cars here and there over the years that I just happened to run across as I was going somewhere but I haven't been to any organized street racing since that time.

I got lucky, with all the stupid stuff I did as a teen I never got even a parking ticket until I was in my 20s. Even today I have had less than 5 speeding tickets total over 29 years of driving.

Do you remember the old burger spot that was on Westheimer near 610? I can't remember the name of the place, but it's gone now. We used to hiot that spot all the time. It was great.
