you know what's funny, is that you guys know the official date the same time that we do

Like we knew for a month it would be in November, but we get the specific date the same time the world does, via twitter .... which is why there are never "leaks" on dates no one fucking knows but Elon

not sure if I can say ... it was on purpose though ... but the funny thing is only some cars initially saw that depending on what version of the software you had since some had already hard coded it in the code as opposed from pulling from the media server.

I mean with a big electric battery and dual motors, I can see *most* of those being doable.
The only thing that I highly doubt is the towing capacity, if you measure it by the SAE standard (http://www.trucktrend.com/how-to/tow...s-the-standard). I don't think they could possibly meet the braking requirements on a 300,000lbs load with no brakes on the trailer.

That was the one I questioned the most, too. Seems like that'd have to be a long-ass truck. Or if the technology is advanced enough to pass the current standards.

I had to laugh about the size of the driver's seat. I'm good with all of it beside the tow capacity. Granted, Ford's electric F150 prototype "towed 1 million pounds" recently, so whatever.

So a lot of cars can pull weight on flat ground.
"rated to tow xxx lbs" per the SAE standard means it can get to freeway merging speeds within a reasonable amount of time, that it can stop even if the trailer brakes fail, or that you can start moving on an uphill incline.
I doubt the ford can pull the 1 million pounds load up a 12% incline.

I'm guessing it's going to be unveiled towing a rocket. He obviously didn't mean a tow rating of that.

Yeah, that's an order of magnitude better than current heavy duty trucks. While I think the "go" part of the equation they could (or have already) figured out, in part thanks to all the work on the semi, there are other things that will stop them from rating it that high. I think tires are a big deal, they'd have to come up with some super heavy duty tires with huge contact patch to be able to support all that load and braking requirements, then there's regulations about total weight ratings, etc...

My guess is, they'll do something way better than the current ones and keep it in the 50k range, maybe less.

that was my thought with the link ... .most of that is doable, and honestly the question more of is how much is it doable on price.

I would like to know what metrics it "outperformed" the 911 at. The rest of the claims are not too hard to believe, of course with a truck all of that comes a very distant second to reliability. People bash on the reliability of trucks more than anything.

I agree with the sentiment, but you know there are enough fanbois that this will sell. Not F-150 levels, but decent for what it is. The big 3 would get laughed out of town if they designed something like this though, or had the poor quality some Teslas have had. That double standard is a bunch of BS.

    That would be dope.

It would be nice if they'd focus on longer range, slower cars though. Even a minivan with sub 6 second 0-60 would be spectacular.

Would it be so hard to find somebody who actually drives/uses a truck to add to the design team? And maybe throw in somebody with taste/artistic ability.
