Says 100% stock and they are Ford cars. Looks like stock wheels and tires in the video. They are definitely stock wheels.

That’s impressive. Should almost justify the $30k+ markup dealers will ask and people will fork over.

The other thread was literally at the top. Why make another for the same car

Had to be a super highly prepped track, no way a high horsepower RWD car is pulling 1.7s on stock tires without a lot of help.

Does it have a launch control system?

don't they have sport cups? though its no drag radial, aren't they sticky tires?
    not arguing with you...just curious.

The Sport Cups and Super Sport 4s are both very sticky, but neither setup has much sidewall. Not too bad though.

I'm pretty sure there is a good launch control assist in play too.

Ran a 10.8 at Las Vegas last weekend, @ 130mph, un-prepped, with the air in FL being better (was adjusting to 4100ft when they were running them last weekend in vegas). I'm sure a 10.6 is legit.

Even though 1.7 is pretty damn good on stock tires you can see they leave the line soft - which you'd expect on a stock car on stock tires. Harder launch on some DRs should put em low 10s pretty easily.

Will be interesting to see how they respond to a tune, pulley, and exhaust. It's a pretty big blower and only running 12 lbs, so should be lots of room for more power. Also be interesting to see it on E85.

I wonder how hard the dct will launch without any tuning.

I did some research and it does have launch control, so if the software is any good, it launched about as hard as it could on that tire and track surface.

I mean, an 11.7 is still impressive when you have a 2.2 60 foot time and a mph that indicates you let off well short of the finish line.

He launched 3100 RPM in Florida. That was his 10.6 run.

Damn. Two days old with 1,000 miles on the clock.

We're definitely going to see some sub-10.50 times on DRs.

If it's dead hooking on full throttle launches drag radials aren't going to improve times. Unless there's still room to raise the launch RPM.

They come with an adjustable two-step. Evan Smith said in his writeup that he couldn't launch over 2100 at Las Vegas or over 3000 at Bradenton without losing traction.

Not at those low numbers, you can tell the car didn't spin it hooked fine on the Dyno.

    Stock:

    Tune Only (93 Octane):
    714 RWHP
    585 RWTQ

Tune, octane booster, Lethal Performance Cat Delete, Removed Airbox:

95 HP and 42 lb ft gain. Not too shabby. Will be interesting to see once they have a proper CAI, full exhaust including headers, a pulley, and more tuning experience on the motor.

Threads like this protect my bank account. I start thinking about something really stupid like blowing the dust off my credit card and ordering a supercharger for the 5.0.

I read this and think, "Well I can blow 5 or 6 grand and still get walked by some dude while he sips Starbucks in his GT500."

Although my wife did buy me a cat-back for Christmas so I can sound mean even if I am not.

One of my buddies has a 2017 5.0. He had an X-pipe and cat-back on it, and just last week he had a Roush supercharger kit installed on it plus a custom dyno tune. If it's any consolation I saw him Friday and he said it's pretty much undrivable on the stock tires - he was in third gear going 40 mph and gave it like half throttle and got the car sideways. He's going to look into super sticky tires and some suspension mods next.

Exactly. You can only add so much without needing to do real work to the cars.

I have spun my tires in 3rd trying to get enthusiastic down a straight entrance ramp. (Cold p-zeros likely responsible, but still)

Stock 5.0 with 430/400 is more than enough power for me these days.

You honestly really only need drag radials on these new cars, people have gone 8s on stock suspension in these new Camaros and Mustangs.

I dunno, I have 315 Mickey's on my TA that makes just under 600 at the wheels all motor (so less low end torque than a blower car) and first is near useless on the street and even in 2nd I can mostly light them up at will.

I tossed around the idea of a Whipple on my SS but for a pure street car I keep concluding 400whp is about perfect. I already drive too fast with it, couple seconds wot at highway speeds and I'm already in triple digits.

I tossed around the idea of a Whipple on my SS but for a pure street car I keep concluding 400whp is about perfect. I already drive too fast with it, couple seconds wot at highway speeds and I'm already in triple digits.
Well to be fair the suspension in a new Camaro is light years ahead of the suspension in a 4th gen.

On a prepped track launching from a dead stop where you can take advantage of weight transfer and launch control. Cruising along at 40 mph on the street and punching it, shocking the tires with 600-700 hp in an instant is a different story.

Ehh, my 4th gen hooked 930+ with ET Street Rs on the street. Of course it spun some but not as bad as you would think. This new Camaro I guarantee will be better when I get it together.

That was also a turbo car, not a supercharged car it’s instant power/torque.

This is true, we're a long ways from the pedal of your Fbody kicking back at you.

I like my 2013 ZL1 with 540 wheel, even in 40 degree weather on mudgrips(R888R) it will dead hook in 2nd gear(six speed). It's abot to get a pulley and injectors...hoping for 600 wheel and I will leave it alone.

Damn what a fun ass car it is.
