    Happy wife happy life.

    It's a v6 oddy

She vetoed the thought of just borrowing pop's Chevy Avalanche to pull a hard side. F'n fail. She just wants to dip her toe into the water so to speak with a pop up.
The battle ain't over yet though boyos. A decent new pop up is still ~$10k

Our friends have a Mallard M185 and love it. Bunk beds to separate the kiddos. Dry weight 3.6k retail ~$15k

Her reasoning (along with the dip the toe) is:
Rvs retain their value so if we don't like the pop up we can just sell it.
It would be to much of a hassle Like.. woman... I'm gonna be schmuck that has to go swap out cars/trucks. Imma also gonna be the schmuck that has to go pick up the camper from storage.

    Sigh

I would suggest also buying a new boat to go with the camper. They also hold their value

very cheap to up keep, practically never breaks, and there is a million places to stop and have it fixed if it does.

They tow super well to if they are broke and it is breeze finding a provider.

Convinced her we're not turning the van into a tow vehicle and will use the avalanche instead

youre gonna buy a piece of shit trailer and bitch about it constantly because theyre almost all piece of shit trailers. your shoe rack is better built than a brand new $15k travel trailer.

Wait, you already had an Avalanche to use, like BEFORE you bought a minivan? Did I read that right? Like you just spent money to buy a tow vehicle that is a horrible choice in comparison to what you already had?

Bout to roll over 16k. Garaged entire life. Mostly highway miles. Exterior/interior are practically new. Only a couple scuff areas that I hope a buff/detail will be able to fix.

    Yes.

Need to figure out the best electric brake controller do dad. Supposedly it's already wired, 7 pin, I just need to dig into the dash for the wires and hook it up.

Wouldn't even worry about it on a 3klb trailer. Just get a decent sway control setup and hit the road.

Serious question.. how many hours have you spent, in total, tinkering/cleaning/modding the sienna since you bought it?

Not much actual work, but spent a lot of time sizing up stuff for future mods

So far, I've installed a hidden sub amp, 3 dash cams, deep cycle battery, extra washer bottle to spray people, mounted train horns and relays, but still working on the OBA system and custom sub enclosure

She's coated with CMX, so a quick 10 minute wash every 2 weeks is all she needs

Co-worker will let me borrow the sway hitch that he uses that's already attached to his trailer.

Hopefully our first outing with a hardside will convince the wife this is the route to go

Looks like they can be had for sub $15k new.

so you spent $25K + TTL for a vehicle to tow a travel trailer and you are now going to tow it with a truck your dad already owns that costs you $0?

ok so let's get this straight

A school year is roughly 36 weeks. Your wife is going to pick up the kids one third of the time. Or 12 weeks per year.

So you spent ~$27K on a van to use 12 weeks out of the year when you live on a school bus route that costs $0?

Talk about a lot of setup and work...and a little bit of white knuckles on some of the Missouri hills but dam this is fun after getting all setup and enjoying some brews with some friends.

I’d recommend a Prevost, towing an enclosed trailer with a new C8 inside.
