    New twist on Ebay scams?

I have been perusing the marketplace ads that are listed for my area on FB looking for a truck for my 15 year old to drive. I run across this ad for a white extended cab 1996 Z71. It looked brand new in the pictures, interior looked perfect, engine bay looked very clean ... the ad says it the asking price is $1,250.
My immediate thought is, "engine or trans is toast, or they have it listed at 56,000 miles but that is how much is on the rebuild motor the real mileage is 300,000 plus..."

I email and ask about the title, if the miles are correct, any mechanical issues...

I get a response saying the miles are original, the truck was garage kept all it's life, husband died and it is too painful to see his truck everyday. Then the kicker, "If you want the truck I will tell Ebay you are the buyer because I want to go through Ebay for my own protection."
When I sent my message I also asked where the truck was located so I could come see it in person, and there was no mention of the location in the response.

Between the price being way lower than. It should be and dodging the question about location my red flag alarms shot up.

So I will continue my search.

I mean, if they aren't going to let you come see it in person, there's your answer.

I told her I would send 1500, she keeps 12,000 and sends 300 back. That way I will know she is honest.

What sucks is if the truck really exists and is as clean as it appears I would buy it even if there were mechanical issues. Putting another vortec 350 in there would not be that costly.

But I would be very shocked to see that this truck even exists at this point.

It would be great to have in the family. My kid could drive it to HS, we could tow a boat with it, (we want a small pontoon)..

I have. 96 already so I am familiar with most of the problems that may pop up.

You say that like I wouldn't have them in hand when I picked up the truck. Can't forget the salt life though.

I had that thought after I reflected on it for s few minutes. I should have known it was a scam from the get go.

I wonder what it is about that price point.
