Does that 0-60 seem a little slow for a 10 second car to anyone else? I would think it would be in the high 2s for a 10 second car.

Yep, and with street tires. I'm sure DRs will make a big difference.

I'm sure traction on stock tires is an issue.

Indeed. Especially if the 7th gen Camaro has been delayed as rumored it makes sense to drop in the LT5 to give the 6th gen some more life.
But GM never gave the Camaro the other ZR1 motor (LS9) so I am not holding my breath.

LS9 was a much more expensive engine than the LT5 currently is. LT5 is about $2500 more than the LT4.

Depends how hard the DCT lets it launch too.

That having been said, the 2019 Mustang GT is 3705 lbs and the last gen the GT500 weighed 245 lbs more than the GT. So 3950 is probably a good guess as to where it will come in.

I think 4K+ is a safe bet, and I don't see a problem with it.
You can't give the consumers everything they want in a 4 seat pony car, keep it under $100K and deliver a 3500lb car . I just don't see it happening, especially with the demand for bigger tires, brakes, plush interiors, 500 airbags, 15 speakers and a sub, etc, etc.

In all reality 760 HP doesn’t give a flying fuck about 4000 lbs but it’s funny how heavy these cars are... well past the cars of the mid 70’s, which was the last time that American cars last peaked in weight.

The suspensions and configurations can handle the weight, so heavy or not they can still turn. ~4K is such old news now that itís beyond horses to glue.

This, but Berman told me the new GT500 is going to tip the scale at 5,372 pounds, so it'd be better to buy a 5.0 and stick a modded 7.3 PowerStroke Diesel if I want a fat pig of a Mustang.

647 horsepower does sound kinda puny these days.

Hellcat Challengers, Chargers, and Trackhawks, ZR1, ZL1, now the GT500.

I guess the current crop of Ford DOHC engines are way too wide to fit back there. One of the reasons why they went with the 3.5 EB.

This. I believe Hennessey said that a V8 just won't fit back there.

Will be interesting to see how it responds to a tune, pulley, and catless midpipe. Probably make over 760 at the wheels.

Lots of concern with that DCT holding up to any more power and especially tq.
Word is different trans options will be coming but not for a little bit.

Probably but the current IRS on the regular GT's has held up well even with modded cars, and this one is beefed up so I bet it will be pretty durable. My understanding of DCT's is they aren't real great on high tq vehicles so I'll be interested to see how tremecs design holds up. Is it going to be stout like the variants of the T56, or the TKO models or will it be total crap like the T5 or on a lesser scale the T45

I'll never own one and I lose more and more of my need to be a fan boy or bench racing as I get older, but this car does interest me and I'm looking forward to see how it performs once tested by the mags.

t this point, we only know that the supercharged 5.2-liter V-8 is slated to make more than 700 horsepower in its Mustang Shelby GT500 application, so it's safe to assume that the V-8 will provide a similar amount of power in the Raptor pickup. Ford and GM's 10-speed automatic transmission seems like it would be plenty stout to hold up to this engine, given that it's used in the 650-hp Camaro ZL1, while Ford could easily source a sturdy enough live rear axle from component supplier Dana.

Yeah not sure how I feel about it. On one hand an actual shifter has long been not necessary but a car without one just doesn't feel right.

I thought Ford would have gone the direction of the shifter in the Charger/Challenger. It’s not necessary to have an actual shifter but you think they would have gone a direction that would have somewhat epeased fans of the manual transmission.

I hate everything about that picture. The switches, the gear selector, the layout, the electronic e-brake....ugh. Yuck to all of that shit

Is there no sport or track mode? Just regular drive and manual?
