    LED Lights

I wish to replace my regular drl's and driving light bulbs with LED's on my Formula.

Please don't copy and paste a link to a thread where I have to read a 110 pages to find out what I want.

If you are doing DRL you could open the housings and put in 12V LED strand lighting, solder and re-seal. Shit is cheap, like $9 for a water resistant 15ft strand on Amazon, just need to power it off of 12V which fortunately vehicles already have.

I'm sorry if I didn't make myself clear on this I just want to replace the regular light bulbs with LED's bulbs. I really don't want to open the housing or soldier anything.

    easy peasy

Front Turn Signal (Firebird): 3157NA (Amber Glass)

just buy the equivalent bulb in an LED

I've had great luck with JDM astars for license plate bulbs, reverse bulbs, etc.

I had some extra time this week so I decided to install the LED, well I replaced the standard drl/turn signal bulb with a Ultinon LED bulb 3157A by Philips - it works on drl's only but not on the turn signal.

    Now what can I do?

Sounds like a voltage issue. Are they specific replacement parts for the stock bulbs?

Have you tried flipping the bulb around?

Yes, funny you should ask. It says on the box if the bulb does not burn try turning the bulb around. That did happen so I did flip it around it burns but it won't blink when I try the turn signal.

LED bulb isn't pulling enough resistance to trip the turn signal flasher. You need a flasher for LED lights.

This. They either don't flash or they hyper flash. Don't know if they sell a resistor you can put in line with them but the ones that hyper flash do to keep it from happening.

To clarify, you need an electronic flasher, not a standard thermal one. EL12 is the part if I recall. Get two as the hazard one needs to be replaced as well.

I was hoping I didn't need a electronic flasher because I'm not where it would be installed in the car.

The bulb is in a turn signal location so the flasher will need to be replaced. No getting around it unless you want to add a load resister on the power lead. Those add resistance to the circuit so the thermal flasher will work properly. They do get hot so I'm not a fan and rather just replace both flashers near the steering column.

No big deal. I just did this in my blazer. You need an LED flasher relay and it should be plug and play under the steering wheel. Looks like a little black box about the size of a phone charger

Yep! You can put the old bulbs back in and turn on the flashers to help locate it.

As you all know I wish to replace my DRL light blubs with LED's after having all the LED's ready to install, I was looking at the DRL light housing is kinda old and brittle. I tryed finding new ones on ebay, rockauto and FD Marketplace maybe I'm just not using the right words or something I can't find them. I need your help again, can you guys find them for me or should I go to a GM dealer?

I didn't swap the flaser relay yet but plan on doing so once I find the housing.
