    New (to me) car

I picked this up recently and just took a few pics yesterday while out for a drive. Should be a fun weekend car! It's completely stock...I purchased it from the original owner and it's still covered by a GMPP extended warranty!

    Sweet!!

Almost 600hp, only 12K miles, still under a warranty and at that price point is a good buy. I have been considering one myself.

It was a steal compared to everything else around here...I felt pretty good about the deal. Original owner, not a scratch on it. I just added the black vinyl bowties (I don't love the gold) and black tail light bezels (I don't love the chrome ones).

    It's a blast to drive!

Do yourself a favor and get some splash guards for the front wheels. They will help keep the paint from getting chewed up on the rear quarters in front of the rear wheels. The area where the gills are gets beat up pretty badly from shit flying off of the wide front tires. I have the GM ones on mine. They don't look terrible and they definitely help. These are old pics but you can see how they look.

Nice! The Zl1s have a ton of potential and with just a couple bolt ons, e85 and tune it really wakes up

If I had a Camaro, first thing I'd do is put on a set of z28 rims. Best looking production wheel ever

    Niiiiicccceeeee!

Do I remember something about the superchargers being "bad" or having problems?

Was poking around looking at used ZL1s the other day.

    Great looking car

I think there was a TSB or recall on the blowers. Most have probably been fixed at this point.

Correct....this one has not been replaced but the supercharger is under GM warranty until 2022 if I want to have it swapped out (though this one does not make the marble noise that they do when they go bad).

IMO, the 10 spoke ZL1 wheels looks better. Everyone and their mother has a set of fake Z28 wheels.

    Thanks!

Yes, they are GM original. Expensive though. https://www.gmpartsgiant.com/parts/g...-23114083.html

Thanks! That says it fits '14-15...do they fit the '12-'13 as well (from what I can tell there may be different ones though I can't find a link for the others)?

They should. No difference in your wheel wells and mine that I'm aware of. I even have ZL1 rocker panels on mine now.

OK...thanks! It looks like that set is for front and rears. Can you buy them separate (I just want the fronts)? Also, did you have to drill a hole in the wheel well to install it (sorry for all of the questions)?

They came on my car when I bought it. I know you have to drill on the rear(of the SS anyway) but I don't think you do on the front. I think they only come as a set.

Almost bought someone's set for $1k, but they don't look appealing at all on the sedans.
I don't really care for any other stock camaro rims

Thanks! It looks like RPI sells them in split sets...I will call them this week and get a pair ordered.

Yeah, former Vegas car rental vehicle...hard pass!

I was not really looking for this car (I really would like a 6th gen ZL1 coupe with the 10 speed but I'm having a hard time spending the money on it) but for the money it was too good to pass up!

It was the bearing grease in the blower, GM will fix it for free.

Nice buy OP, that is a hell of a lot of car for the money. I hate convertibles but that color makes up for it, enjoy

I really wasn't looking for a 'vert but I think I am going to be selling my low mileage TJ Rubicon and the family likes going out for rides together. This allows for a fun top down experience that we get now in the Jeep. Ideally, I'd prefer a coupe but I think this will be fun for awhile. I also may be more inclined not to mod it too much because it's a 'vert (we'll see).

Man I doubt I could sell a Jeep if I had one especially if I lived where you do where I assume you can do some great off-roading with travelling to far from your driveway.

I am definitely struggling with the decision to be honest (it's a 49k mile, black/black '04 Rubicon that is almost completely original and in unbelievable condition) but I also want to get a classic car of some sort and I don't have the room in the garage for everything. I also think that it will see far less seat time now that I have the Camaro. If i don't get the number I want, I will hang onto it...

A TJ rubicon is neat, but I’d take the ZL1, and it isn’t even close.

The marble noise is just a bad isolator, nothing seriously "bad". If you get the problem, either do the warranty and get a new one if you want, or send it off to Kong performance along with the snout and get them cnc ported, new solid isolator and install a smaller griptech pulley and get a tune.
