Ram Passes Chevrolet to Become the Second Most Popular Full-Size Truck Brand

For years, Ford’s F-Series has been the best-selling truck in the U.S., with the Chevrolet Silverado coming in second, and Ram placing third. Usually, Ram ends up a distant third, too. This week, however, something different happened. When sales for the first quarter of 2019 were added up, the F-Series was still number one, but […]

If this isn't a gut punch to GM about calling it in on the interior design I'm not sure what is. Plus their stupid ass engine/trans configurations.

Ford has been the #1 selling truck in Canada for decades. It's something like 30+ years straight.

I'm part of the stats. Been a GM guy most my life, but bought a '19 Ram two weeks ago. The stupid drivetrain configuration limitations took it off my list. Not getting the 6.2 in lower trim levels is fucking stupid. That and the new body style does not appeal to me at all.

Yep. GM deserves to go down bc of their NASCAR mindset of "our way is best regardless of what our fans say" mentality that they have towards their trucks.

New Rams aren't bad looking at all.
    The 8spd ZF is great.
Hemi is stout, would be awesome with Di.

If it would drop its weight by 8% or so, it would be a real winner.

I went to an auto show here a few weeks ago. Really just a way for all the dealers to get their best new stuff out on a huge floor and let people sit in them and dick around with the features. Pretty much all of the major makes were there, including all of their trucks.

By far, the GM vehicles were the most bland and unimaginative set of cars and trucks out of all the makers who were there. Ford, Dodge, Audi, Honda, Hyundai, Nissan, BMW, Mercedes and some others. Just boring shit comparatively. They'd better get their act together.

Also, customer's faith in GM reliability is dropping, where Ram's is growing.

Let's be honest. With Ram, there was only one way for it to go.

    Won't argue that.

    I'd still get a Ford.

I prefer Ford, but would get a Ram in a heartbeat (no pun intended ) over any of the GM truck options.

And the Ram does have the best interior of the three now.

It's a good trend to see GM unseated as the number two and I hope they stay behind Ram going forward. GM as a whole takes their customers for granted way more than other OEMs.

The F150 is probably my favorite truck out right now... But I don't like the aluminum body. I've seen too many cabs ending off of their frame after a wreck. That's got to be scary as hell.

    This.

I like how one of the GM execs said the last model didn't have keyless ignition or keyless entry because customers didn't ask for it specifically in a pickup truck. Way to be ahead of the curve...it's this kind of thinking that put them behind Ford and Ram.

This is why the interior of the new gen trucks is basically a copy of the old generation, GM said they didn't want to change it drastically because of current owners. Same thing happened to the sixth gen Camaro. Hey 5th gen owners said they liked the way it looked so they made it again and wondered why it has been a sales flop.
