Base price of $69k. Damn, if I was going for an all electric, this would be a no-brainer over a Tesla. And they're developing an SUV as well that looks kinda like a Land Rover

400 mile range too. Wonder what the 700hp model will retail.

I couldnt imagine how loud the tire noise will be without some of the engine to drown it out.

Don't put mud boggers on it and it won't be louder than any other truck tire...?

I think they all have 700 hp, it's just the battery pack that raises the price. The 69k has the smallest pack and therefore shortest range.

Go to :26 of the video, it shows the different battery packs and the horsepower ratings to go with them, 750, 700, and 400.

    love it...
saw this video a while back...maybe another thread on it.
would buy over a tesla...i need the truck part of it. plus it looks 1000x better than tesla.
just hope the final design mimics what is show in the video and the fit / finish / reliability is spot on

That all adds up to way too good, I'm gonna go ahead and be skeptical. 400mile range, 700+hp electric truck made by a no volume OEM for $70k...

It's a neat idea and all but I'd hate to see the range hauling a trailer.

    Lol

Add another trailer to the trailer just for the battery packs. Or maybe a diesel powered generator.

I love that they made it actually look like a boxy SUV instead of a jellybean like so many other modern SUVs and CUVs.

Most all terrain tires hum a bit.

So add more noise to make less noise?

I really like it. Reminds me a bit of a land rover LR3/4. $70k is a lot, but not out of line with other higher end SUVs.

I'm all for the coming electric car takeover. There should be some interesting options in the next 5 years or so.

GM has invested in them and so has Amazon.

CVS invested in Theranos, big companies are not immune from poor decisions. I could be wrong, but I wont be expecting the final results to look that good, or they will be selling at a huge loss.

The initial truck will almost certainly be the $100k one, just like Tesla did. Once they get production going they'll be able to start lowering prices.

No but your comment was referencing a no volume OEM. If GM sees potential then Revian has the largest automaker in the country as a possible partner.

GM also invested in Lyft not long ago. How did that go for them?

For Revian I think they have much upside, the founders have a great opportunity to make a ton of cash for themselves if they eventually negotiate a buyout.

What GM has to gain from them isn't nearly as clear. They aren't Tesla who is working hard at having a competitive advantage with battery production/R&D. They arn't Google who has deep data storage & analytics core capability. They arn't Lyft who has a working business model for ride sharing. I'm wondering what technology/specialty Rivian has that can complement GM beyond making a low/no-profit 6-figure low volume niche market vehicle.

I like the look of the SUV, the truck not nearly as much. Price is crazy though.

Interior looks amazing. Headlights look horrible. They would look better horizontally mounted.
