Still no #'s on the 7.3 Not sure how that's gonna make enough low end Tq N/A.

7.3L of displacement is probably how. Seems no doubt it will be above the 6.4 from FCA and probably the new 6.6 from GM.

And thats 7.3L of pushrod tq. Since it's traditional cam in block/OHV design it's almost guaranteed to make gobs of low end tq.

Well I don't have the exact RPM, but according to the MT article Ford stated the following
The new 10-speed automatic transmission helps keep the engine operating in its "peak efficiency island" of 1,500 to 2,500 rpm. And even without DI, this new engine manages to tolerate 10.5:1 compression.
I'm sure peak efficiency for a HD truck includes a range of peak tq, along with good economy numbers.

    The 502 made 550tq at 3400.

I'm more than curious on where the Tq # comes in and peaks on the 7.3. The entire point of a diesel is that low rpm tq #. They say this fills the gap between the diesel and the 6.2. That gap is massive. That 7.3 will be a premium. Maybe they pulled a rabbit out of the hat.

VCT will help, the 502 was old old school other than good flow.

Maybe it will look better in person? That’s fugly.

The new Silverado is slightly less ugly in person than pictures.

It does. I'm really liking the Silverado in person, it's just not photogenic at all.

*Edit. Wait, I forgot about the frontend on this abotripon. My comment only applies to the 1500

Chevy has this bad habit of designing shit that looks terrible in pictures and then you see it in person and it’s oddly better.

Except the new Camaro. Fuck you GM for this latest redesign.

They even manage to do that with their interiors as well.

Ain't it something? I sat in front of that truck for a good 20 min and just didn't hate it the way I did when I saw the pictures.

Why don't you explain to everyone why you think that's a problem.

Too bad you can't get a regular cab like that. For 2019 regular cabs are only available in work truck trim with the 8 ft bed.

Well that's an interesting move. Can't say I don't blame them considering the percentage of trucks sold that are crew cabs. Still, the effort to put one out now seems minimal.

They'll get here eventually though. And it'll be neat to see what the aftermarket guys do with these trucks.

Yeah, the majority of RCs sold now are to fleet customers. They know that the trend towards the dbl and crew cabs is going to continue. I think this will be the last gen that a regular cab will be available at all.

I don't THINK it's a problem, It's well documented what issues Di alone causes with carbon buildup in the combustion chamber, and on the backside of valves.

Now, explain to us why it WOULDN'T be an issue.

Really? Think they'll actually ditch the regular cab altogether? Dropping a step-side, I can understand, but dropping the RC as a whole, that seems pretty big. Again, I can understand the reasoning when looking at the percentages, but that seems like an extreme move, even if the numbers are small. I guess if the market changes and RCs become popular, they can just bring it back.

I do. For example. In Texas, there have been 52,777 retail crew cabs sold for 2018 so far. That number for regular cabs is 1,033. It's getting to where it's not worth them putting the money into a RC with sales numbers like that.

For 2018s, Are the short beds on a crew cab the same size as on a regular cab? Basically, are they interchangeable... Given the RC is a short wheelbase as well.

Speaking of 2018s. My dad just bought a GMC Sierra that's decked out and has a 6.2l in it. He was comparing it to the same truck that's got a 5.3. (different dealerships) I told him to drive them both and he'd be hooked on the 6.2.

Yep. He loves the 6.2 in that truck.

Despite seeing a sexy new 2019 GMC Sierra Denali 3500 last night at the dealer I am starting to think I am going to settle down with my search and just pick up one of the new GMC's when the time is right.
