The problem with the fold down step is that it was expensive and it had a tendency to fall off. lol

I'm going to bet that most actual owners of this truck will appreciate this step because of how tall the truck is.

The steps thought and theory are great. The looks and execution are not.

Just look "off" having a plastic hole in a nicely painted smooth body line is all. Hopefully there is an option to not have it at all.

I'm sure within a month of release the aftermarket will have something to cover it up.

Honestly, looks of a truck are wayyy down the list for me. But GM hasn't blown me away with reliability here lately.

I could never afford the diesel, nor do I need it. I'm curious about the new Di engine.
An all iron, 7.0 LS based without afm, or dod would be tempting.
    Making 400 hp /600tq.

I'm not so sure. Especially with Ford having a 7.4L Di gasser in que.

In all reality, It's probably a 6.2 that's been worked over.

7.3, not 7.4, and it's a pushrod OHV motor...go figure. Makes sense since it's designed to make lots of low end grunt

    Yup.

A High Country/ Denali will have a sticker of damn near $100,000.

Buddy at work got a new Powerstroke qc, 4wd. Not a King Ranch, or, even a higher end Lariat.
    Sticker was $94k.
He got it for $74,and felt he got a good deal.

Front is only slightly better, and it needs a lot more help than that.

As for the step and the wheels .. I get the functionality of the side step but it looks like crap, especially on a lighter color if they leave it black plastic.

Hell, the normal rear bumper steps are pretty damn ugly on all of the GM pickups. Can't deny the functionality, but they really look bad IMO.

Designer #1: The front end looks weak, we need to fix that, bulk it up a bit.

Designer #2: What if we laid another front end on top of it?

Designer #1: Sounds good, let's do that.

I don't get why companies have gone crazy w/ tail light designs. Why do multiple brands have phone-shaped tail lights and why is that the shape of choice?

Along w/ that, they're big/bulky, oddly shaped, bulging... what's wrong w/ something simple like what used to be the norm?

    Wow... that is wild.

I don't think they will be that high. Over the weekend I was pricing out 2019 3500 Denalis and the highest dealer ordered MSRP I saw was around $73k. There seem to be several out there that are marked down closer to $60k or less right now too. I don't see the new truck jumping $27k.

You don't have much choice if you want something new. They all have ridiculously huge front ends. Which oddly enough, are surrounding smaller and smaller engines.

He's right though. The overall trend in displacement is getting smaller in most applications, with forced induction becoming more common.

While GM has added a 4 cyl, the vast majority of their trucks are the same or similar 5.3 or 6.2 they have had for years. The front ends are bigger because the overall size of the trucks are getting larger. Bigger cabs, beds, etc.

not a fan of the side mirrors, but other than that, i actually think it looks good. Not great, not a fan of chevy trucks, but doesn't look as bad as people are making it out to be.

Chevy's design department rarely comes out with a design that most people love right away. Most of them grow on people, but the department overall needs a shakeup with some of the mediocre stuff they've had lately.

Man, everyone likes to bag on 80s styling but GM and Ford nailed it on the trucks.

I can't understand the love everybody has for those trucks. In the classics department, 1972 and older for the GM's. I think it's about 1972 for the Ford's as well but I don't remember exactly.

My favorite style truck is the late 40's-early 50's Chevys.

I do like the 80's style though, as well as the 90's and 99-02 Silverados.

I was never a big fan of those trucks as well. I actually still like the updated super dutys when ford started using the 6.0. The cabin isn't the best but the only thing I would like is a back up camera which can be added after market

Yep. I love the Ford and GM trucks from the 80's. Dodge wasn't that bad either. My dad bought a 1/2 ton, regular cab, shortbed, V8 Dodge when I was a kid in 1988. That truck was a blast.

Probably. Towing numbers are now just as much of a dick swinging contest as TQ numbers.

New Ford PS 6.7 has steel pistons.

Given that, they are gonna bring some serious power.

Yeah because 400+ Hp and 1000 tq is inadequate. Go home ford, you’re drunk.
