New intercooler and 93 tune....whistling sound at WOT

At lower RPMs with a decent amount of gas I hear a cool swooshing sound but at WOT there's a whistling sound like a high pitch fart.

Is it a boost leak? Is it normal? Is it the BOV passing?

Otherwise, a great mod. Strong pull at low RPMs. Noticable difference. More than expected.

If it didn't do it before and it does now I'd say there is an issue with something. Could be a boost leak.

    It’s the spark plugs protesting.

I sure hope not. I had silicon hoses installed at the same time the bigger intercooler was installed. I heard they are more prone to slipping off and leaking.

It took the shop 3+ hours to install. I hope it doesn't take much time to tighten up the hose clamps.

How or why would a mechanic fuck that up? The bumper had to be removed. You'd think they'd make sure it wss all tightened up.

Post about it online to people that can't hear what you're talking about, or take it back to the shop that did the work.

I have been running the denso TT plugs. Fantastic.

The ground electrode has a fine iridium tip too so it can handle the mods without wearing out like others.

So the whistle subsides at pedal to the metal WOT where the diverter valve is commanded to close completely.

This leads me to believe the whistle is high velocity air passing by the DV at lower pressures.

Did you buy cheap hoses that are collapsing? Are you sure this sound isn’t normal with maybe an increase in hose size therefore more air flow and noises? Are you posting this question on a board dedicated to whatever car you have?

If an intercooler pipe blew off, you'd know.

It's apparently a common problem with aftermarket intercooler installs.

I wonder if the hoses are collapsing but it's impossible to tell. The turbo inlet hose was switched to silicone well before the intercooler swap. No noise before.

Not impossible to tell. Put it on a dyno and watch. Or put a camera inside where you can see the hoses and review video. You’d also notice an issue with boost

It was a hose leak. Damn shop charged me to fix it...the same shop who installed it 2 weeks ago.

The milage has improved too with the leak gone.

Thank God it wasn’t something suggested in this thread in the first reply.

    LOL

No warranty on the work? I would tell them to go fuck themselves. Then start a dispute with my CC company.

But I'm sure the world of tuning collector cars by defunct car companies is very small and word would travel fast.

People take advantage of my good nature. I think I am done with that shop. I've been going there for years so it's too bad they had to be squids with a loyal customer. There's another nearby competitor shop I will try out for my next maintenance.
