The Corvette is Already Looking Dated

The zr1 is very aggressive looking, but now all the flairs and bulges are starting to remind me of poor aftermarket kits.

In 5 to 10 years it's going to look very date, but somehow the c5 will not.

GM has definitely spent time on the performance and handling, but now they need to go back to the design.

And I hope they don't come out with this front end for the 2019 camaro.

Aggressive styling always dates itself quickly. Like most 90's/00's Pontiacs look turrible now.

That said, the C7 looks worlds better than a C5.

Unless it's a base C7, IMO. And as long as the C5 is a FRC.

the c5 is a clean kinda timeless design, the c7 and especially c7z are blatant ferrari copying.

don't even get me started on the c8...

Can't stand the c7 styling. GM needs to put the crack down. They're turning into Acura or Lexus. How can we make this vehicle as ugly and weird looking as possible?

    C5 looks good still

C6 is still good, just more chiseled

C7 is good at the moment but does look hot wheels-esque

C6 looks more dated than the C5 to me. I think the C5's still look really great... but I also own a 2001 Pontiac, so what do I know

As far as C5 goes, I think anything other than a FRC looks dated and boring. The C6 is still ok but the widebody is king. I like all of the C7s, narrow bodies included.

    I'm similar... C5 FRC, C6 widebody, C7 widebody.

Why? The OP didn't say anything about the driving experience or it's performance. We all agree that the base C7 has near supercars performance and the ZR1 IS a supercar. That doesn't mean that the visual styling can"t look dated.

Perhaps but the C7ZR1 would still be ugly, especially with the small autozone looking wing (big wing looks good). The air intakes make the entire front end look like a chipmunk with its cheeks full of food. Love the C7Z06s though.

This is why I still drive my C5 FRC.

    Oh wait, it's because I can't afford a C7 Z06+. Nevermind.

Iím a widebody lover on the C7 as well, but the narrow bodies do look good.

The problem is, those front end aspects are necessary for the performance. The Z06 front end lacks air flow for extended heat handling.

I understand that, but purely from a visual standpoint, it looks like garbage. I like everything else about the ZR1 (save for that little wing option that looks like it cost about $10 on the clearance rack) and there's no denying it's a performance beast.

I agree... the feel of it is worlds above any previous vette. I drove the c7z on some winding roads and I had a smile like a teen virgin putting his hands on some tits for the first time. My friend said it looked almost physco.

I must be getting old because I still love the look of the C5.

There was a brand new orange 2019 ZR1 at my local C&C a few weeks back and it was in the middle of a pack of exotics - Lambos/Ferraris/Porsche, and there was a crowd of at least 25 people around the Vette. I thought it looked pretty good, sounded mean, but I find myself "trying" to like the looks. It's like everything GM makes in 2019 looks like it came straight from the Transformers set. Maybe it will grow on me.

We shouldn't be so concerned with the looks of the different generations of the Corvettes. What we should really all care about is which one has the best cruise control.

Same here. Then I saw one in person and immediately couldn't unsee what I saw:

. Course that color probably doesn't help.

my buddies 17 GTR he's about to go stupid with

The wide body C6's I feel have the best exterior styling still. I like the wide body C7's, but I agree it's not going to age well. I get the function side of it: down force, actually developed factory aero etc and that's great, but don't think the design is going to last the test of time. C5's to me look dated. FRC's are unique, but overall it looks dated to me

I think every time these threads pop up it's a consensus that the base models, be they C5/6/7, always look dated while the higher model levels always retain their appeal longer.

I love a clean FRC on a tasteful set of wheels. I'm not really a fan of a C6/7 base (non-widebody). The C6 widebody will hold up well over time as it has just enough aggressiveness while not being over the top. The C7 widebody's don't have a bad angle except for the ZR1 IMO.

My ideal C7 would be a widebody car with ZR1 hood, stage 2 rear spoiler, ZR1 fenders but with the Z06 inserts and Z06 front end (extended for new fenders of course). It wouldn't be as functional as a ZR1 but I think it would look damn good.

If I were in the market I would go for a wide body C6 that had low miles and a documented history (proving it was taken care of), over a new C7. I love the C6.

    Although I would take a 1967 C2 with the 427 or a red drop 1969 C7 with the 427 over a widebody c6 or c7.

I don’t think the new ZR1 looks all that bad.

The ZL1 and 1le version are pure sex though

JC Whitney called GM, they want their parts back!

Ah, who am I kidding, the C7 is the reason JC Whitney is still in business.
