Who wants the power curve of a 6.2L engine with a PD blower when you can have an 8500 rpm screamer with no torque.

Yes. I was trying to work a toupee angle in there somehow as well but couldn't figure it out.

Sorry, but I thought we were talking about maximum effort racing. You know, like how Pacer mentioned it would be great if the ZR1 came with a transbrake? Oh, wait, it doesn't.

Best bet is for any non-Demon fan to leave the Demon out of a comparison with any other production vehicle.
What if you add the optional Corvette factory 100 octane tune that's available?

First I've heard of that. I see it was available on the ZO6. How well does the ZO6 run on that factory only tune? We know it doesn't touch the Demon's certified figures, but I'm curious.

From the little bit I see out there, it wasn't really a performance pickup, but rather a way to keep the LT4 from derating as much under hard driving.

I don't know. I don't have it as I'm just a poser witht the stock tune.

Yeah, it was designed to combat the derating issues unfortunately. Something GM has been careful about on the other LT4 platforms and certainly looks to have addressed on the ZR1. Radiators and heat exchangers everywhere. LOL.

Seems like a lot of car people prefer the looks of a C6 > a C7.

Biased opinion but I feel like the C6 looks dated and the C5 still looks way better. The C7 is pretty damn sexy too.

I still think the widebody C6 (GrandSport, ZO6, 427) is one of the best looking Vettes. I wish I had kept and modded my 2013 GrandSport instead of trading it on the 2015 ZO6. That's probably one of the only cars I regret trading.

the c5 z06 is the high point of corvette all things considered, they also still look amazing. all corvettes since the c4 have all been kinda the same anyway. the c4 gets away with it because it was the first at least.

also, similar to the mustang which tries tries to be all things to all people the vette tries to be ferarri when it's really a better built TVR.

I agree w/ most of what you said and some of that video. The C1 to C2 to C3 to C4 were revolutionary... C5, C6, and C7 have been evolutionary.

Yep. 100+hp increase, much better chassis and an all around more capable car for $5k more. I don't see the problem.

Yep, I'm okay with $100K for the fastest SUV on the planet. It brings more to the table in its class, for me, than the ZR1 does.

You going to spend $135K on that Vette? More power to ya if so and you think it's worth your money.

I was in the market and my answer is "hell nah". Completely specific to me. I wouldn't have spent $125K on the C6 ZR1 either though.

I don't know what else you could buy that will come close to its performance. Granted, we don't know all of the performance numbers but if it does a sub 7 minute Nürburgring lap time, there's nothing within $100k that will touch it. You'll end up spending over twice what a ZR1 costs.

You going to spend $135K on that Vette? More power to ya if so and you think it's worth your money.

I was in the market and my answer is "hell nah". Completely specific to me. I wouldn't have spent $125K on the C6 ZR1 either though.
Well, you knew the price of the C6 ZR1, so you probably also knew the C7 ZR1 would be the same or more. It sounds like you were never in the market for one unless GM priced it well below where the previous gen was, which was never going to happen.

I had read some early press stuff that suggested $119K starting MSRP so I figured I was a "maybe" at $125K with a few options. I'm a definitely no at $138K. So, maybe you're right.

Jeff, it will be interesting to see where its performance lands. GM indicated that it's more of a super fast GT car rather than track focused like the Z06. I'm not sure how that's going to translate.

The track package will definitely make the ZR1 more track focused than Z06. According to the ordering guide, the standard suspension is like Z06 and the track pack suspension is specific to that package.

Also, base price is $119,995 for the 1LZ. 3LZ content adds $10k to that though.

The power and overall package is great, but Chevy has gotten a bit ostentatious with their aesthetics for the Vette as of late.

also, similar to the mustang which tries tries to be all things to all people the vette tries to be ferarri when it's really a better built TVR.
Visually (to me) the 1968 to 1972 Corvettes are the best design. If I could own any Corvette I wanted it would be one from that range. Obviously a new corvette will smoke it in literally every other category but I would trade the 300 extra horsepower, all the tech, and whatever else to cruise a 1969 droptop Corvette with a 427 and a 4 speed.

1969 is one of my favorite years for Corvette. When I was in high school, there was a local guy that had a yellow 435 horse 427/4 speed coupe. He drove it all the time. It was so bad ass.

Hell, just by a stock C7 for 60k, then pick up the rest of the ZR1 appearance kit at your local pepboys for $20. Done.

I’m not sure. Anything I could argue about though apparently. In my defense, I had just read a couple of posts by shuck in the lounge, so yeah.

I can't wait to see the performance of this car, should be interesting to see how much faster it is than the previous one
