Friends neighbour put an LS1 I an early 90s 911. Biggest issue was the oil pan & rear suspension. I forget what pan he went with but it was lower profile than the stock f-body pan. Also had to make adjustments to the rear suspension because it'd squat so much under hard throttle that the oil pan would scrape the street

Put a LS1 in my Chevelle in ~03, it was being done but far from common.

Waiting to find a decently priced combo to drop in my truck right now, the aftermarket for swaps and the knowledge that's available now is ridiculous.

I love that Holley now makes everything I need to do the swap on our Chevelle.

It's nice, I had to cut and notch my oil pan myself and find someone to weld the aluminum cause custom pans didn't exist

Lots of trial and error before I found which accessory setup would work. Had to get a bunt welded on my torque converter to make the th400 work.

Had to use a painless wiring harness cause the info just wasn't out there to convert factory harnesses

What's odd is the swap for a Jeep, while keeping it a manual, is not cut and dry. IIRC, only 2, maybe 3 companies make conversion kits that'll allow the swap to work and I've heard headaches and complaints from folks that have used both/all. One brand/company is raved over while the other is cursed... and vice versa. From what I gathered, it's a crapshoot on whether the conversion will go smoothly or be a total PITA. If going auto, it's pretty easy and straight forward... but I don't want an automatic Jeep. On top of that, keeping the factory gauges working is another hurtle, as well. Sure, they make aftermarket gauges, but they don't match/look right in there at all.

I got the body mount kit. Once I order the fuel/brake lines (best to do with the body lifted up) we'll start putting her back together. I'm waiting to order the engine/transmission until the chassis is ready and I have all of the parts I need so I am still under warranty in case something goes wonky.

Is there a marketplace for ls-swapped cars? I'd love to buy one completed or partially completed as I don't have the time nor mechanical ability to handle a full swap myself but if I ever had some discretionary funds I'd love to buy one.

I have a buddy doing a current Porsche build with an LS1. I like to say it's an early 2000 model. I'd have to find it on FB.

I am not sure on the year, someone else might notice what it is. It's done as he has posted pictures with it at VIR, but he hasn't posted completed motor shots that I could find. I could ask for some. He has also built a 300Z with an LS1 that I think he sold before getting this one.

    Edit
Sorry he wrote me back and said he wasn't done yet (I guess the VIR shot was with the stock motor). He posted the motor almost ready to go in. And I think it's actually an LS3.

Someone should let him know about the oil starvation issues on the ls3 if he plans on tracking it .

There is a Facebook group called "500plus hp for sale". Might want to join that and keep an eye out. I see swapped stuff from time to time.
