I'm in the process of rebuilding the knuckles on my cruiser right now. That'd probably be enough to talk most people out of owning one. Not a difficult job, but probably the dirtiest thing I've ever done to a vehicle lol

Take a bottle of dawn or lava soap to the shower along with a scrub brush....lol

So I've had a bit of a gas leak around the tank for some time now

It started off as a smell when filled, then after time started a mild drip when filled, then eventually got to the point when I filled it past 3/4 tank, it would drip

For the past few months, I've been filling her up about 1/2 tank (which is just enough to get me to work and back lol)

New tanks are uber spensive and I didn't want the downtime of welding mine, so I picked up a used one from the local bone yard for a $100 bucks and had it boiled, sealed and pressure tested

Finally got a chance to throw it in today

No more smell, no more leaks

The MAF extended range tank looks great

    but not $1400 great

Besides, there's a gas station on every corner around here, so there's no reason to load her up with gas and make her heavier than she already is

So I've been putting off replacing a leaky rear axle seal for a while now

It was a minor leak (in fact, there was no drop in level when I checked), but after a long shift at work last night, I decided to pop into the shop and just get it done

Like an idiot, I followed the FSM's instructions and tried to remove the ABS sensor

Thing is, unlike the front axle, there's no reason to remove the rear sensors

Ended up snapping the mounting bolt

With no room for an extractor bit, let alone a drill, I was pretty fucked

I'd have remove the entire backing plate in order to get it from the other side, but I was too lazy for that and just drilled through the plate and installed a bolt and nut

Blew an air line fitting for one of the horns last week

Apparently, the cheap plastic fittings don't like 200psi lol

Replaced it with a much better brass inlet fitting

So a few weeks ago I had her up on the lift for an oil change and noticed one of the Air Lift bags went to shit

No big deal since I haven't been using her for towing lately, but now I'm currently looking into lift kits

Thinking a 2.5"-3" lift with heavy coils since I'm running so much extra weight, but damn are these things super spensive

Speedo/odo actually stopped working a few weeks ago

Faulty VSS (probably from all the water crossings I've done lol)

New OEM is $180, but FleaBay aftermarket is only $9 bucks

Tried one of the cheapies and it worked for one day

They sent me another and it was DOA (no signal at all)

Put the first one back in and it seems to work after a few miles

Asked for another, but seller sent a refund

Picked up a used OEM unit on the Mud forums but it was also DOA (think it was from a flood car cause it was filed with whitish oil.....seler sent refund)

Tried all the local salvage yards, but no luck, so gunna try another cheapie from EBay that looks a little more like the OEM unit and see what happens

Since my XB got wrecked, she's my daily until I can pickup another beater....

I'm way too cheap for that

After 4 defective FleaBay units and 1 defective used OEM (pulled from a flood car), I picked up another used one from a Mud member parting out his LX and my speedo is working again

Currently at 427,xxx according to the OD

Didn't drive her since last week and forgot the dome light on

Got in her yesterday and the primary battery was dead, but secondary kicked in for an emergency start, so I just put plugged in the primary to my AGM charger and she was good to go again

It's 35* and I'm heading to the beach for a little cruising

OK, had these sitting in the shop since Monday, but didn't have a chance to mount them until last night

Unfortunately, the large cone for the balancer went missing, so I scooped up all the balancing beads from the old set, broke out my drug scale and had exactly 40.5oz, so I just put 8.1oz in each tire and called it a day

Feels smooth as glass compared to the old D-Tracs, but then again, they have over 120k miles on them

Best of all, I had listed them on Craigslist as "well worn with plenty of miles, but perfect for beach use" and had quite a few hits

Kid just came and picked them up for $100 bucks

Seems like going j springs opens a whole can of worms into other issues. Probably need a DC driveshaft at the very least. I'm running the 850 front (heavy springs, not the jsprings) and 860 mediums in the rear. So far, even with a sleeping platform, fridge, and 4x4labs rear bumper with spare, the mediums seem to be OK. Probably wouldn't hurt to go heavy in the back now, but I'm looking at dobinsons. My 80 weighs right about at 6k, my new front bumper will put that up to 6100ish. What's yours weigh?

Not sure what she weighs in at, but she's no lightweight lol

I have 860's in the rear and they put her right at stock height (20.5" from flare to center hub)

I have two vendors that tell me J's are the way to go for my setup, but many others on the forums telling me otherwise

The ones that have tried the J's and hated them didn't really have heavy accessories, so I'd expect them not to be happy

The closest build I could compare to (mod wise) is the Expedtion Cure rig and it's running J's all around

AFAIK, they're not running a DC shaft

Here's what it looked like after the lift without accessories:

And this is what it looks like with all the goodies:

On a sidenote, I'll be running MAF drop brackets instead of the offset bushing kit or caster plates (already have a set ordered)

I know most folks don't like them cause they reduce clearance, but I have yet to hear any complaints when it comes to road manners and that's a bit more important to me

Yours probably is heavy enough for j's if the 860s are sagging that much. Most people complaining are stock weight and get like 4" out if it

Other than beach time how much off-road time does your rig get? Your tires look like none with no cuts in them.

Just got back from the weigh station

    3020 lbs./Front

    3400 lbs./Rear

    That's 1669 lbs. over stock

Nowadays, she's more limited to beach time as there aren' tmany trails here in NY

The spare had sidewall damage due to a curb lol

Yeah she's a heavy one! I have a ton of crap in mine at "only 6k" lol. I need to get my front bumper painted and mounted, that'll add a good 100lbs. Finally got one from binks fab this spring after trying to get one from another fabricator for 2.5 years and getting scheduled for Binks. Then I can monstaliner it!
