Engine Masters testing air filter set ups.

I thought this was interesting. The amount of power killed was a lot more than I expected. I was assuming it wasnt going to be more than like 15hp killed.

I found the stock Dodge air cleaner to be the most interesting. Single snorkel (2nd taped), both snorkels untaped, and lid flipped.

That was really great. I always thought velocity stacks adding power was a myth. Guess not.

    that was an interesting one.

they just released a new one where they swap AFR 165, 190, and 210 heads in succession on a 351-based stroker. results are not what you'd expect.

They release new episodes on the Motor Trend app a month before they become free on youtube so he probably couldn't.

I want to see that!!!! They had previous episodes testing cams with certain heads and each time, the bigger head + normal size cam was their choice.

Ed Curtis & I'm sure other cam gurus, have been preaching that. I've only known about it for 15yrs when I started planning the lil stroker that when in my Fox. Im sure that knowledge had been around for a long time though.

an ideal air inlet with a taper & curved lips always flows significantly better than open or even a straight cylinder

you just have to understand air

That for sure still isn't an optimized length, I have a geometry generator somewhere that will give an ideal profile based on target flow rate and tuning RPM.

damnit, I'm running the #13 combo. looks like i need to put a solid top on mine. I don't think I have the room to run a flat base, and don't think I have room for a 4" filter with the drop

edit: NVM, apparently it's capable of 650hp-ish. I'm calling it good on 420hp

X and H basically the same, but make more power than straight pipes.
