That Rubicon looks good, but I'm still not paying $50k for a Wrangler

Buy lesser version and just mod it to equal a Rubi. Costs far less, and has always been the case with Wranglers.

I paid 33k for my new 2008 4 door rubi. Where are y’all seeing 50k for the JL?

Just guessing considering you can get a JK Rubi for $45k+

You can also get it cheaper, but if you want, you can spec one out to at least $45k.

Because Borlas wife needs one with the painted hardtop, heated leather seats, and all the options so she can commute to work and back with it.

Loaded current models are easily mid-40k's.

Mine was bare bones by design. I only regretted not having power locks.

But, it’s a fucking Jeep. Chances were good everything would either intentionally or by accident get wet and I didn’t want to think about door lock, window and seat Motors. If I got another tomorrow, I’d configure it the same way.

I don't think they offer power seats. They do offer heated seats though. LOL.

I went 3 years without a windshield crack, I’ll consider myself lucky. I had no idea y’all were losing so much glass on your wranglers.

I just had a windshield put in the T/A and the glass is warped in a few spots. Bugs the crap out of me. In some spots, it looks like you're looking at the bottom of some reading glasses. Just constantly breaking the perspective (not sure if I used that correctly) in the windshield. It's annoying and distracting as hell driving down the road.

The guy that put it in said he'd put in another windshield and get it from a different vendor. that it's right next time.

What is it with your obsession at pointing out that not everyone uses a Jeep to rock climb?

Just pointing out why they've gotten so expensive. And don't act like even half of jeep owners use them for what they're meant for. Most people buying wranglers should be buying grand cherokees. You included. It's become the #1 poser mobile these days. Just own it man.

    why do you care?
it's no different than SAHM driving 100K land rovers to the mall...
jeep are more expensive because of the updated engines - longer wheel base - suspension - technology - creature comforts - which is what in turned made them desirable...
sure the older jeeps had a pretty big following - for purist and college kids etc...but everyday joe didn't want to bounce around in a highway capable go cart everyday driving to work.

Yes, we get it. You point it out in EVERY Jeep thread.

What they are meant for? They are meant for people that like Wranglers. They are designed to be able to go off road, but with the fact that they will spend most of the time on road in mind.

Last I checked you can't take the roof and doors off of a GC. I've owned a GC and like the Wrangler better. Much more to a Wrangler than wheeling.

My Wrangler only sees dirt and rocks maybe twice a year, otherwise it's my daily driver. I'm ok with that.

A lot of chicks drive Wranglers and most have zero interest in anything but mall crawling.

They sit up high and can see.
    They're "cute"
    The top comes off.
They can get around in snow.
A lot of girls have told me they like them because they can see where the ends of them are. A good friend of mine told me many times "The back of my Jeep is the back of my Jeep. Meaning there's no trunk, when she looked to back up there's nothing past the spare tire for her to crash into shit with.

The bezel area to the air vents bleed over to the border of the display... same as the headlights integrating into the grill.

Oh how I wish I could swap that dash into my TJ.

I wonder if the JL will have as many issues as the JK did w/ getting rained in or if they've somehow made it more "water proof".

Agreed. Looks like it should have one of those bent shift lever arms to bring the handle closer to the driver.

When I bought my 2015 JKU Rubicon Hard Rock, I traded in my 2007 JKU Rubicon. They gave me $17K for it. It had over 100K miles, rocker panels had some rust on them, overall beat to shit. I think we paid $32K for it new. I was shocked at how much they gave.

taking into account resale value, jeeps are a bargain. kind of funny how you can make the practical financial arguments for a very impractical vehicle

Nope. I almost added that it's also one of the most practical vehicles I've ever owned (which isn't saying much at all)

I do want a truck though... just no where to put one right now. One day.
