You say "new." But I'm not an aficionado, so I'm not seeing any difference. Perhaps you could point out the updates?

Agreed... it looks like little more than an updated JK. Not a next generation. I akin the changes to this gen from the previous like those of exterior of a YJ to a TJ. (Lots of changes from a YJ to a TJ, but from the exterior alone, not all that much)

Also look to be vents behind the front fender flares... that probably helps with drag.

Wrangler guys probably wetting themselves over the turbo diesel option. Much torque, better mall crawling, calling Quadratech now.

I want a jeep really fucking bad but their prices are so regoddamndiculous. Damn near better off and cheaper to just buy new than most used ones especially if they're 'tricked out'
one of the few vehicles that seems to actually gain value with mods.

I must say, that new Wrangler looks pretty damn good. I think the incremental change is the best way to go for something like a Wrangler. If you make HUGE changes to it at once to such a historical platform, people will pitch a fit. Gotta ease them in to it
But yeah, if they had a V8 I'd be very interested in one... but I'm pretty happy sticking to the Grand Cherokee for now, it's a great vehicle

That's the reason I've bought new all 3 times I've bought a Wrangler. Used prices are insane. Even heard stories from my dealer about people leasing Wranglers, rolling in negative equity, then turning in early. Out of negative equity in a year or so. Values are just insane on them.

I don't see how their value stays as high as it does. It's not like they're rare. Hell. I've seen TJ's in worse shape than mine sell for more than what I paid for mine.

Buying a used JK is stupid.

From what I've seen of interior shots, the interior is MUCH improved over the JK. I'm intrigued by the engine options, I'd like to see MPG figures on the turbo 4 and diesel.

The JL is a massive change from JK (relative to how much Jeep's change over time).

leaked interior pics in hand's down the worst color combo

I bought my tj for 7k. I could sell it right now for 7k and that was like 6 years ago

There's a few key factors in that... If the top and doors don't come off, I don't see it being a competitor.

It won't have the following of the Wrangler, but they will definitely pull some sales from them.

IF, and that is a big if, they do it right. I'm expecting to be let down, big time, but if they do it right I"ll buy one.

I don't see that as much risk. It's not going to be anything like the Bronco of old and more like a Nissan Xterra or something IMHO.

    My bet:
    17/19 for the turbo 4
    17/19 for the V6
    18/20 for the diesel

There just isn’t a great way to push a brick through the air.

And then after people bolt on the 6 inch lift, 35s, and the rest of the quadratech catalog, the numbers will be:

    Turbo 4- 8/11
    6 cyl- 8/11
    Diesel- 9/12

Two easiest jobs in the world are designing the body of a Jeep Wrangler and 911.

This wouldn't surprise me at all. I am expecting little more than the Bronco named slapped on some global chassis that is really just a high riding crossover.

    I hope I am wrong.

I’m weird but this is the most exciting thread in corner garage to me. I’m eager to see how the turbo diesel performs.

These would be 2 of the most difficult jobs, IMO. How do you design something new that has to look like the old version? You can't change the way a 911 looks. That would be sacrilege. Same thing with a Wrangler. You would be lynched by the faithful if you changed either one, but you would also be hammered if you didn't make them better than their predecessor.

This Wrangler seems to be highly anticipated by many people. I don't think Jeep is hyping it enough though. I was expecting more excitement from them like they were with the Hellcat/Demon.

I can't wait to really see it and the next Bronco.

I don't like the rake of the windshield; it will take all the fun out of it. I can light up every reflective sign for 1/2 mile with the sun light reflecting off of the windshield on my 89.

didn't think of that consequence, but you're right. The windshield on the Jeep is most powerful when you get that reflection juuuust right.

The touches are subtle, but I bet they help a ton with drag. I bet that rake helps with broken windshields too... f'ing rocks and a flat angle!

I've been lucky w/ mine I guess. The windshield has been replaced once, but that was b/c it was poorly installed (you could see the damaged part that started it, under the molding). Currently, I've for 4 hits on the windshield... one SHOULD have really done some major damage, but it is holding strong.

We have about 8k on this Wrangler and so far it is the only one to not need a replacement.

I have the same feeling. It's going to be some mediocre mall crawler type of thing. Not a serious offroader like the Wrangler line.
I hope I'm wrong, but that's pretty much what I'm feeling from Ford right now.

edit: Even my Grand Cherokee catches rocks. It's due for its 3rd windshield. I'm probably going to wait until spring at this point. The crack really grew this summer. Want to see what winter can do for it

I'm guessing it'll be an FJ Cruiser that looks like a modern Bronco.

An fj cruiser with front and rear lockers with room for 33's from the factory would not exactly be a bad thing.

I've only had one rock chip on my GC's. My Wranglers were not so lucky. And crack spread was ridiculous on the Wranglers. I mean, would never stop me from buying anyway.

Cant wait to hear the purists start whining about how it's lost the charm that a 1978 CJ7 had.
