    Truck progress-2017 Silverado Z71

Bought a new truck on Friday. I've got some mods I want to do so I thought I'd share my progress along the way. Started out like this.

Added black Midnight Edition wheels and Duratracs today.

Tint coming next week. I'm also removing the Texas Edition badges and adding the Centennial Edition bowties next week. Leveling kit on the front and and steps coming later.

So you've already added the leveling kit? If not, don't, it doesn't need one. Any higher in the front will look terrible.

Shut up, gramps. It’s in dire need of a leveling kit.

Do you not like the style or the fact that they're black? The only wheels I really like are either 22" or 20" These were essentially free since we were adding 20" wheels to the truck they came off of. I just hate silver wheels on an all black truck.

Not yet. You can definitely go too tall in the front but I've seen a lot of 1.5"-2" kits that look great.

I just had to pay the labor for the swap so basically free.

I don't care for leveling kits either but it's obvious that truck isn't close to level. It's just the angle of the pics and the ground. If you took a shot directly from the side profile on flat ground it'd be much more obvious how tilted the truck is.

PS - looks great in my opinion. I like those wheels a lot better than the stockers.

If you say so, brah. I don't mind either look to be honest, but it's something I'd never do, y'know? Although when I broke both rear leaf spring shackles in the rear of my old beater (2000 silverado) it sat basically perfectly level (probably a 2-3 inch drop in the back) and I was like hey not bad. But I still fixed it because I prefer a little rake. Even in (sports/muscle)cars I like a tiny bit of rake. My c5 is like...not even an inch taller in the rear than the front. Just more pleasing to my eye.

No brodozer wheels. We added black factory 20s. Just like these but without the red stripe.

Yeah I don't think it looks bad as is but I do like a little less rake. Here's the truck my wheels came off of with the leveling kit installed. I like it a lot.

PC Pain is right. They absolutely make a difference. They ruin the looks and intended utilization ability of otherwise great trucks.

I can't even tell the difference....WTF would ya say the leveling kit actually "does" beside take your monies?

Oh, and I'm not sure how the black wheel fad started, but I haven't seen a single vehicle with them that looks good IMO. much rather have flat alum or that darker alum. Black, especially gloss black....makes me gag.

I'm been looking at the new Durango R/T and 90% of the dealers order the fuckin black top package. Guess I can just order it with the standard wheels and save $700. The brass monkey wheels don't look half bad with the right exterior color.

Both, never been a fan of Black wheels especially on black cars. But gun metal or brushed metal look good on black cars and trucks. Usually no two people will agree when it comes to wheels.

Imo, all modern black wheels ruin a truck's looks. They are so commonplace, and generic looking.

    5.3 I assume?

    How much $, otd?

Local Gm place is doing 28% off Lt, and Ltz crew cabs right now

I want a new truck, but after 4yrs of debating, I'm still not satisfied with what is offered.

Yea the wheels aren't deep enough to pull of the black look. Too much wheel face as well.

I buy at GM employee price so with that and all of the rebates that I qualified for, I got $15k total off of it. MSRP was just over $48k.

Is it the angle of the pics or does that hood not fill up with water when it rains?

Those Bowties look amazing. They should never go back to the hideous gold ones.

I do hope they go away from the square wheel wells though, love the trucks other than that.

Your's looks great, I like the wheels, and tine will make it look great. Can't imagine why anyone would leave those tacky taxas badges on though, good idea removing them.

That's the first thing I said when these new hoods came out last year. It hasn't been an issue. I could see it causing problems on trucks that sit forever but when you drive, the water doesn't stay there.

Thanks. Yeah, I hate the gold ones. I wish they would just go with black or the new centennial ones and get rid of the gold.
