The R got a little quicker over night

    I <3 Race Ramp's wheel crips! Linky

    Holy stock restrictions batman

Should be ~20hp or so. More once I get a tune. Right now I'm just rocking a piggyback (JB4).

Thanks to the resonator it sounds completely stock unless you're WOTing, then the pitch/growl is a bit different. Spooling seems faster and it gets up to speed easier.

Next up is the off the shelf tune, an inter-cooler, lowering springs, and then finally maybe a cat back exhaust then I'll probably be done. Only place to go after that would be an upgraded turbo but then you're talking real shekels

Jack passenger front up high enough to put the lower portion of the crib under the passenger front wheel. Place jack stand on '2nd' setting under passenger rear jack point.
Jack driver front up high enough to put both sections of crib under the driver front wheel. Place jack stand on '4th' setting under driver rear jack point.
Jack passenger front up high enough to put last section of crib under the passenger front wheel. Adjust jack stand to '4th' setting under passenger ear jack point.

    Jack: https://www.harborfreight.com/2-ton-...ump-60678.html

The wood you see under the rear tire was there to prevent the rocking motion when the car gets to a point where it's teeter tottering while you're setting everything up. Probably not necessary but I figured eh, why not stop it from trying to totter a bit.

With that setup in that first pic I was able to creeper from the front to the rear with ease. Plenty of room to maneuver even at the back of the exhaust.

Now that I have my "lift procedure" system down pat I could probably get my car on cribs/jacks in 10 minutes.

Acceleration nearly the same. Able to carry 3 more passengers. Able to carry more cargo. Sleeper. Better MPG. 1/4 of the cost.

I'll deal with an out of state shop if/when I go with a bigger turbo and all the supporting mods

It's coming!!! Should be here tomorrow.

258hp/272tq to 354hp/395tq at the wheels on 91 octane.

    Screw APR's premium

Also, according to APR their 91 Stg 2 high torque tune is 349hp/382tq at the wheel. So theoretically the Eurodyne is better on paper where peak is concerned. I haven't researched all the graphs side by side but I'm assuming the 'under the graph line' should be similar.
    https://www.goapr.com/products/ecu_u...en3_mqb_r.html

APR's Stg 2 ECU tune is $1,000 + another $700 for their TCU (Transmission Control Unit) tune.

I got the Eurodyne Stg2 ECU + TCU for $1,074 (Actually $974 since I got a $100 gift card from ordering the AWE down pipe from Urotuning). Plus I can flash in the convenience of my own garage and I have free access to any revised maps down the road.

The Eurodyne tune is pretty aggressive. The only one more aggressive would be a United Motorsports tune but you have to go to a farking dealer to get the flash. F that noise.

Quick table comparison of a lot of the tunes for the MK7 GTI/R

    Dat tunes

    It's a whole new beast

It feels like I have a CVT on roids. I can't even tell when it shifts it's so dam fast and smooth. In sport mode I'm doing 60-70 mph before I even know it when WOTing it. This one section I know by heart where I'd romp it from a stop I'd hit 30ish before I passed the speed limit sign, now I'm hitting 38mph.

I'm so getting a speeding ticket within the next week.

When you're lazy and don't want to break out the laptop. Just maneuver the car next to the garage pc

It's a top of the line car, that is routinely rated at the top of it's class, for top of the line pricing.

It's a deep 13 second car (deep 12 sec car with a tune) with AWD that returns 30+mpg highway and will fit 4 adults.

There aren't many cars that will sell for that price, that are that fast, that are year round useable in functionally any climate you'll run into in the lower 48 states. The STi will go that fast but is obnoxiously loud with questionable build quality. The Focus RS is there for roughly the same price, but is as overstated as the Golf R is understated. The Civic Type R?? FWD with 300hp.... pass.

I just don't understand the hate...

No shoe rack at current estate

There really isn't a good location to put one. I could put a shelf up I guess but it'd be right by my driver door or the fridge (which is to the right of the door). No win situation. So the shoes are just lined up along that side where the door is.

I guess I could scoot the fridge, workbench, and tool chest all to the right and put a shoe rack in the corner of the garage. We're a shoes off before you come in the house family fwiw.

that's my issue with them. make them not look like a pregnant roller skate, and they'd be real interesting.

Yeah, I'd opt out of the whole garage PC thing for another custom built shoe rack if I were you.

The three door hatch is a popular spec in Europe, and I doubt they'll ever get away from it.

I wish there was a middle ground between the golf R and the Focus RS as far as appearance goes. The golf is too staid, the RS is too boy racer.

Had a small opening in traffic coming back from lunch so I floored it from a stop taking a right hand turn. One or two wheels burnt rubber Never had that problem before.

No hate. I like the car. I do not feel that a Golf for 35k is a reasonably priced car, hence my comment.
I used to be a VW nutbar. But after buying other cars that didn't break all the time, I changed my ways.

And the civic R? I don't care if it's the fastest thing around.....it looks like a fucking clown car.
