Every brand and dealership does this. Not new and not shady, normal fee.

Yeah but it's always included in the msrp of the vehicle.

The true selling price of the car was $35,300

He was way off with the taxes, inserted a $500 tag transfer fee, eventually disclosed that $1100 in freight was never mentioned nor was the $600 processing fee.

It was a classic bait advertised price.... all he kept saying was "can we make an appointment for you to see the car?" and was throwing the monthly payment around- not the final pricing.

Maybe other dealers and manufacturers sell cars differently- but when I bought my Accord, the selling price was negotiated and agreed upon within 5 minutes. Down payment subtracted, taxes and tag transfer fee added and I was out the door. Not one mention of processing, shipping, etc...

Those dudes are stereotypical car salesmen.

So, no, I had every intention of buying one. As soon as I left the tattoo shop I was going to the bank to withdraw what I was putting down on the car. I ran the numbers and his monthly payment figure seemed way off to me so I entered everything into an auto loan calculator and sent him a text asking why his figure was so far away from what it should be. He replied that he was with a customer. I then asked that he simply send me a breakdown of the deal so I can see the details- because I KNEW he was adding something in, somewhere. He immediately replied that his made an error with the sales tax... he was using 8% and not 7%.

It took him about 3 hours to send me a 5 line breakdown via email. 3 hours? Just stop. That was when the fees, freight, goofy taxes and tag transfer fee were disclosed. (It costs about $100 IF that to transfer a PA tag)

So, no- I was planning to having the car by now. I would've left at 6am and arrived there around 9:30. Signed everything and been on my way home by noon (now).

$1200 in taxes? (Should be $800ish)
$1095 freight? (Never bought any vehicle that had this added on after negotiating)
$600 for "processing"? (Never bought any vehicle that had this fee)

So, it wasn't $1000 I was holding out for. It's substantially more. If it's the best deal in the country, well I probably should've bought both because 2 are available!

Whether anyone thinks I was tire kicking or buying is their opinion. I would've bought it I don't need a new car and it certainly would've been nice to grab and have fun with. But the deal wasn't what I was satisfied with.

Personally, that's just step two in the negotiating process. That's why you ask for a quote with a breakdown of the charges which you did. If a line item seems off or you simply do not agree with the pricing, then you negotiate said line down. Is it shady they inflated certain lines? Yes, but, what do you expect. Anyone in sales is trying to maximize their commission.

Should be listed right on the sticker pretty plain and easy to see.

It says this on their site:

MSRP is the Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) of the vehicle. It does not include any taxes, fees or other charges. Pricing and availability may vary based on a variety of factors, including options, dealer, specials, fees, and financing qualifications. Consult your dealer for actual price and complete details. Vehicles shown may have optional equipment at additional cost.

It is. You can look at the window sticker on their site linked earlier in the thread. It shows the base MSRP of $39,995. Then it shows a destination charge of $1095 and the total price of $41,090

I'm not sure how Det Blk is saying taxes should be $800ish either. Virginia shows a 4.15 vehicle sales and use tax. The car would have to be around $19,000 for it to be $800 in tax

Less taxes because of the trade in.

So people are understand the click-bait advertising. It's a bunch of shit. Freight is included in the sticker price.

They were just using shady tactics.

    Slightly shady tactics, yes.

The thing is, the deal with those items tacked on is still the best I've seen and probably still the best in the country.

The tax thing was going to work itself out in the real deal. Total vehicle cost minus your trade value times the appropriate tax rate. There is no game to play there.

This deal is getting a hard look by others too on the Charger/Scatpack pages on Facebook...specifically at this dealership. Most don't want to touch it because it's a base model scatpack, but some are like "i don't care, just give me the 392!"

    And they would be correct

Chattanooga has a few tunnels through the hills.
I brought the HC up the other day while the wife was up.
I made a point of driving it though a one lane tunnel about 1/4 mile long.
Rolling about 25 in first gear about 3500 RPM with the windows down it was magnificent other than breaking loose a time or two in a one lane tunnel.
I really wasn't worried about $1,000 one way or the other.

So if this deal is so great- why haven't any of those people jumped on it?

The same reason the deals are there to start with, not a big market for higher dollar Dodges that don't get great mileage or haul a lot of people.
They dramatically over produced and for that I am thankful

I rent a lot of cars, sometimes they are Dodges, you can tell that some definitely got a little Daimler treatment, others, not so much.
I have heated and cooled seats, lane change indicators, really nice info screen and red seat belts

The driver's gauge cluster looks nice. However way to much hard touch plastic. The passenger dashboard needs something to break up the monotony. That HVAC stack looks like something out of a truck

I own a 2014 Grand Cherokee Summit with the Hemi. The dash can turn a shade of grey if I don't keep the dust off of it.

I'm certainly not interested in the car based solely on the interior. I actually prefer cloth seats over the leather or alcantara.

Yep, I see nothing wrong with the interior on the Dodge. Then again, I don't often grope my various dashboard components so I have no real reason to complain about the materials they are made out of.

I would even say it's better than most Ford's and some GM's, like the Malibu. awful design???

Most of the dash is soft touch FYI (the top, surrounds, entire passenger side). The part that isnt is the center portion where screens, buttons, vents and gauges go. All these things need tighter tolerances and the soft touch foam isn't consistent enough. Your shinny VW is the same.

Dodge interiors are so much better than they used to be and IMO are a lot cleaner and nicer than a lot of competitors. Ford currently has a dumb habit of making their buttons face the ceiling instead of the driver. The VW looks like a BMW or Mercedes, aka German style. I don't think that style automatically deserves deepthroating.

Eibach springs are installed, new alignment complete. SRT rides great and doesn't scrape in any mode. Matte black cap should be here early next week, will have pics after its detailed up

do it. love mine. only issue is the complete nonexistent view out the rear driver's side and passenger side corners due to the huge b-pillars.

No matter how big the windows are you have huge blind spots if you depend on using them to see. And also turning your head that far to see isn't a good idea either for obvious reasons. Once you get used to properly adjusted mirrors its like a whole new world opened up.

If I lived in an area that didn't get actual snow, where owning at least one 4WD vehicle is the norm, I'd absolutely get one and daily drive it.

The other challenge is I actually use my truck quite a bit. Granted a cheap beater truck would be awesome.
