I have a feeling if they agreed and dropped the price to $30,999, you would have found another reason to not purchase the vehicle. There's nothing wrong with admitting you weren't seriously looking to purchase it.

I think it must have to do with competition. Fairfax county Ford dealer Ted Britt almost always has their prices listed online and at a pretty steep discount. I have bought from them in the past. It's nice not having to really deal on a vehicle.

Well if they have some creditor that they can get those low credit score people approved through, it's a lot of extra money in the bank's pocket (unless the person defaults). Say they get them a $33k loan @ 12% for 72 months. That's $645/mo, which ends up being over $46k over the course of the loan. So I'm sure the bank is more than willing to give $1000+ dealer kickback to them for that.

They probably have to finance with a certain bank to get that. I think Ally is the main lender for FCA.

I am thinking about it, but probably won't pull the trigger as I might of found one closer that has the options I prefer. OTD on this one is 36,654.81 to TX (plus shipping, 700ish) Not including conditional offers which I don't qualify for.

The Detective was getting a tattoo done and received a phone call. I reiterated what my offer was and they accepted it. I requested a breakdown as to the selling price of the car, along with my title and tag transfer... and the sales tax difference of 7% for PA.

He waited 3 hours to send that information.

All I needed to do was take tomorrow off and pick a color. But- he was throwing a "monthly payment" figure at me, which isn't how I buy a car. Tell me the selling price and whatever else you factor in. That monthly payment indicated to me that he was attempting to hide about $2k somewhere, using basic math and a set APR on a loan. He claimed, via text, that he was incorrect in his figures and used 8% sales tax. Even with a 1% error, it wouldn't affect the figure that much at all.

I just received the email. I was almost exactly right ...... FREIGHT ($1095) wasn't factored into the numbers that we agreed on not was their "processing" fee of $599..

Nice try Farris. You almost sold a car.

That all should have been disclosed from the start. If it's a standard fee- Include and show it from the start. I was pretty curious as to why they came up the $1,000 I wanted on my trade within a day of waiting.

Yup, he never intended on buying. To be in a position where you want this car and pass up this deal? You either were never interested or are retarded.

What was his final number after all that back and forth?

You fuckers are retarded. Why would I not have intended on buying it?

The true selling price of the car was $35,300

He was way off with the taxes, inserted a $500 tag transfer fee, eventually disclosed that $1100 in freight was never mentioned nor was the $600 processing fee.

It was a classic bait advertised price.... all he kept saying was "can we make an appointment for you to see the car?" and was throwing the monthly payment around- not the final pricing.

Maybe other dealers and manufacturers sell cars differently- but when I bought my Accord, the selling price was negotiated and agreed upon within 5 minutes. Down payment subtracted, taxes and tag transfer fee added and I was out the door. Not one mention of processing, shipping, etc...

Those dudes are stereotypical car salesmen.

So, no, I had every intention of buying one. As soon as I left the tattoo shop I was going to the bank to withdraw what I was putting down on the car. I ran the numbers and his monthly payment figure seemed way off to me so I entered everything into an auto loan calculator and sent him a text asking why his figure was so far away from what it should be. He replied that he was with a customer. I then asked that he simply send me a breakdown of the deal so I can see the details- because I KNEW he was adding something in, somewhere. He immediately replied that his made an error with the sales tax... he was using 8% and not 7%.

It took him about 3 hours to send me a 5 line breakdown via email. 3 hours? Just stop. That was when the fees, freight, goofy taxes and tag transfer fee were disclosed. (It costs about $100 IF that to transfer a PA tag)

So, no- I was planning to having the car by now. I would've left at 6am and arrived there around 9:30. Signed everything and been on my way home by noon (now).

I think most see this thread as a steal on a new charger and you're searching for ways to justify not buying it. Have you found a deal near that price anywhere else?

Shady dealers do suck. The dealer I bought mine from was great. No hidden anything, and they never once tried to discuss monthly payments. Would absolutely buy another car from them.

Perhaps you didn't read the entire thread. It was more than $1000 and they moved and I moved- and we came to an agreement that I was comfortable with. When I asked for the breakdown- it took him 3 hours to send it. That was one of the first definite indicators that they weren't being open and honest. Any other conversation we had- either by voice, text or email- were all immediately answered. So I waited.

When he finally had the balls to reveal his "deal", they magically added those additional charges on top of the agreement. So- yes- fuck them. Had all of that shit been revealed and not hidden like some buy-here-pay-here car lot, it would've all worked out and I'd be driving it right now.

I did read the whole thread and like I said, you were waiting out to buy based on another 1000-1500 discount shown wherever they felt like sticking it per your post #91. What has happened to you since post 91 has no basis on my opinion that I posted. You were curious and intrigued but really had no serious intention to buy IMHO.

When your counter was agreed to you were jammed with freight and setup, which is not uncommon, and you didn't calculate it into your original golden number that would make you shit or get off the pot so we are right back to basically $1500 on a heavily discounted vehicle making or breaking your decision. Without knowing what interest rate you would get or term length 5yrs @ 2% is something around $30/month different between the magic number and where they are at

So yea, my vibe from you is that either your gut or whatever it may have been has never really made you comfortable from square one on making the purchase.

You took a stand. Congrats. You also passed on what was still the best deal in the country on that car.

    $400 to transfer my tag?
$1200 in taxes? (Should be $800ish)
$1095 freight? (Never bought any vehicle that had this added on after negotiating)
$600 for "processing"? (Never bought any vehicle that had this fee)

So, it wasn't $1000 I was holding out for. It's substantially more. If it's the best deal in the country, well I probably should've bought both because 2 are available!

Whether anyone thinks I was tire kicking or buying is their opinion. I would've bought it I don't need a new car and it certainly would've been nice to grab and have fun with. But the deal wasn't what I was satisfied with.

Blasted around town in my SRT 392 today. I'll give you a guess on how many times I thought about what the dealer made after they forked it over at 9k or so under MSRP.

Can't speak to state specific fees, it sucks that they didn't disclose everything

We are pushing stupid incentives to drive sales, this tends to be the uptick period before the inevitable downturn.

I don't think you guys understand that I realize the advertised price is a great deal... I do. I'd love to have a Scat. And I could easily afford it... but if I'm not comfortable with the deal, I'm not going to do it. And I'm not comfortable with it. If those fees had been factored in and they had been honest, I'd likely be bombing around in it right now, on the Atlantic City expressway having fun.

Maybe they'll call me Monday and make a better offer At this point I'd say "split the difference of the ACTUAL costs (correct tag transfer cost and taxes) and I'll see you guys in a few hours".

Just for shits and giggles, I'm loving some of the wraps people are putting on these cars.

Yea, they are. You can color change the headlamp with a plug and play system. It's a showcar/event thing

That's what I'm hoping for... and it'd be glorious to take the ride today.
