Riddle me this... Camaro RS lease...

Wife wants a White Camaro RS convertible with a V6, 1LT package. 36 months, 12,000 miles per year, $0 down. Car stickers at $38,400 or so.

I go to a dealer (I'm GMS/employee discount) and get a quote at $580 a month... which strikes me as WAY high.

Just by accident a sales guy from a different Chevy dealer comes into my pharmacy today and wants his blood pressure taken. While I am taking his BP, I mention that I was shocked at what I was quoted for a Camaro lease at nearly $600. He says he'll go run the numbers and call me.

He comes back with ~$415 to $440 for a similarly equipped car.

    What.

    The.

    Fuck.

Something is very, very wrong here.

I've exclusively bought using GMS (father was a retiree) for 16 years now, excepting the SS at 20% since it couldn't be combined and was a better price.

My opinion, GMS is great for purchase but really not at all useful for leasing and you can do better finding a dealer who wants to deal. It must have something to do with GM corporate incentivizing leases that doesn't correlate to MSRP or something. The only real good lease deals they offer through GM employee discounts are specific programs for specific vehicles from time to time, but it's only available to the employee. A couple years ago I was trying to convince pop to lease a CTS 2.0 for something absurd like $199/mo for 10k miles or buy for 29.9k. May have been a PEP car or something, think they had ~3k miles on them.

GMfamilyfirst.com is useful and if you're an employee/retiree you can set up an account.

Nice! Post the pics. The V6 is a pretty darn good setup in the 6th gen.

Congrats. There's really no bad engine in the Camaro. I'm still pleased with the 2.0T in my wife's Camaro almost a year later.

Beauty, missed that it was a vert. Looks like it's got the bimodal exhaust too.

    Thank you!

It does have the bimodal exhaust, which sounds pretty good. The car is surprisingly quick, but like most DOHC engines, it has to build to it instead of giving you that big displacement OHV kick in the pants something like the 90's LT1's had. Checking the numbers, this car vs. an LT1 F4 in the 1/4 mile probably goes to the 2017, with the new car trapping faster.

The car next to it in the one pic is an ATS 2.0T. Certainly peppy enough to get the job done and honestly not far off the V6. The magazines put them within 0.3 seconds of each other in the 1/4.

The dual mode exhaust on the V6 sounds really good.

does GM tune their turbo engines like that? i thought that's more of a ford thing.

Doesn't really feel like it. The V6 is definitely quicker, and 8-spd automatics tend to keep NA motors in their power curve pretty well. If that's being done, I can't really tell.
