That's a tough one. I'd probably take the Bimmer though.

That's not really a fair comparison...the GS's base price is some $12,000 over the Bimmer's. The IS is the 3-series' competitor.

That said, I would take the 335i. The GS isn't much of a performance machine.

Weird comparison considering the GS is a bigger platform. It's a 5 series competitor.

Hard to say which I'd pick in that scenario. The GS will be more comfortable given the larger space, but it will definitely be slower.

You're comparing a base GS with the top of the line 3 series right? GS350 vs 335i?

I think T meant that the base model 3 series starts significantly less than the base model GS. I'm not sure though.

The base GS starts at about $6k more than the base 335i.

    GS- $44,150
    335i- $38,900

These are both the base RWD models.

As you said earlier it's not a very fair comparison, as the two are different machines. The BMW is a luxury sport car, while the GS is simply a luxury car. A more accurate comparison would be the 335i to the IS line, or the 5 series to the GS line. While I seem to like the lexus interior over the BMW's, I'd take the BMW for its better performance.

Except the 335i isn't the base 3-series, the 325i is...which starts at around $32,000. Hence why I said a $12,000 difference, I just worded it rather poorly.

Oh, I know the 335i isn't the base BMW. I said base 335i, as in no leather, or add-ons. Also, I meant that it's non-vert, and not AWD. Both costly extras. See what I mean? I'm sure you know this, but it's the 328i, not the 325i that is the base 3-series.

And the GS could be mistaken for any other Toyota, I mean Lexus.

What I was going to say. The fastest GS is the actually the hybrid one. I have driven on and they are not bad at all. Either way 550I>GS430. IS350>335I.

That hybrid moves. It totally destroys the Prius concept most of us visualize when we think hybrid. The RX400h also moves damn well.

I believe that the Honda Accord Hybrid is faster than the non-hybrid counterparts as well.

Gotta love better performance and fuel economy.

Yeah, I'm not paying much attention to what I post. Freakin' BMW changing their model numbers all the time 'Course, you'd think I'd remember, given that I test drove one not long ago...

There is a $6,900 difference between 550I and 535I. Both great cars, the 550I borrows more from the M5.

If you get the V8 version of the GS its pretty quick. A friend of mine had the previous gen GS430 and they could run low 14s stock. Im sure the new V8s are faster.
