I am considering a used Tahoe/Yukon in the near future and have a question about the 3rd row seat option. The Yukon I'm currently looking at doesn't have the 3rd row, but the wife says she wants it. Problem is, I can get a smoking deal on this one.

Now I haven't actually seen the truck yet, so I need a favor from one of you. Does anyone know if the non-3rd row seat option Tahoe/Yukons still have the latching mechanism for it? Meaning, can I just buy some 3rd row seats and latch them in a vehicle that didn't come with them originally?

Thanks for the help all.

They do not. You're probably getting a smoking deal on it because it doesn't have a 3rd row seat. A 3rd row seat will usually add about $1000-1500 to the value because it's harder to sell a used one without it.

Keep in mind though that the 3rd row seat in a Yukon/Tahoe is good for kids or small adults only. I'm 6'6" and could not stand to ride back there in a regular Yukon. So, if you have kids or haul more than 5 people around, it's a good option. If not, it's usually something that will sit in the garage because it takes up cargo space.

im with Morpheus.
Just bought the wife a 99' YUKON, and it came with out the 3rd row seat.
and there are no latches back there for a 3rd seat.
i got one hell of a deal on mine:) loaded, leather, 5.7L locking rear end 3.73's and a towing package. all for 10,***.
I actually almost like driving it more than driving my truck...............

um well ok maybe not that much:p

I have the 3rd row seats in my Tahoe and they stay out 95% of the time. With the 3rd seats in there is almost no room left to put luggage etc. The good thing about them is you can fold them down and flip them forward for more room.

Thanks for the replies. I actually researched some more at www.chevytalk.org and found out more information on this. In case anyone cares, the mounting points are there under the carpet. You just need to buy the brackets to bolt to them and the actual seats. Of course, you'd also have to cut the carpet to get to them.

The good thing about it is I can decide later if I want them after driving the thing a little.

None of the 99's had 3rd row seats. IT wasn't offered as an option on Tahoes and Yukons until 2000. So a 99 will not have the mounting points like the 2000-04 will.
