My hood and spoiler paint issues are getting worse.. :help:
I think its time I start saving up for a repaint. I can see where some parts are chipping while other spots are bubbling off and even worse, the spoilers paint along the edges is getting pretty bad.
To make it worse, On my passenger side headlight, by the foglights there is a "tear" in the plastic bumper.
:2guns: to SLP!
Wish I had a Z28 now. :(

I've got a little overspray on my hood, little bubbles on some parts of my hood and my spoiler is all fucked up. I still wouldn't have a Z though :D

Yup, SLP's fine workmanship. I can't count how many SS owners have complained about hood and spoiler paint job.

Is it problematic with any particular paint color, or is it generally all colors?

My OEM SS hood is getting kinda screwy, but I'm getting it re-painted very soon so it's ok.

My Hood and Spoiler are fubar'd and I've kept the car in good shape. The SS has only 30k miles on it. Its been pretty much all the SS's affected by this..
The paint never matches with the rest of the car and problems with the paint.. I believe the story goes that once SLP started doing more # (think they did 4k total for 96/97?) and jumped to doing 6k a year there arose alot of quality issues..
The matching the rest of the car, most ppl know its almost impossible to get it to match.. but some cars were more obvious then others.. Mine only showed the difference when being washed.

The color matches like shit on my Hugger SS also. Not noticable in the daylight, but when it's under the right light it looks like ass. I took a pic of it in my garage once and the flash went off and the hood and spoiler looked about 3 shades off from the rest of the car.
I don't have any other issues..........yet.

I guess I have been lucky, I do have a bit of a shade difference but only noticable under certain lighting, but the paint it self has no issues, by the way #3614 on a 02 SS, Rally red.:) Built in Nov of 01.

I've got a lowly Z28 and my paint on my hood and front bumper is also garbage. I've got a spot the size of your hand that's missing paint on the bumper. Begin the countdown to having it painted.
I was told that GM makes these bumpers in a mold. The material contains a "mold release agent" that lets the molded bumper slip out of the mold. This "agent" makes things not stick to the bumper. Things like paint.
The paint on the front bumper is also cracking near the point in the front of the car. The paint guy I spoke too told me that's because GM didn't add a "flex agent" to their paint.
$150 for repainting with flex agent, but no guarantee. I'll post before and after pictures.
My car's pewter.

Hi, my name is Steve, and I have orange peel. For some reason, the hood and the spoiler are okay, but the rest of the car looks like it grew on a tree here in Florida
