A bunch of us at work were sittin' around bs'n and one guy that it would be cool to swap an LS2 into an F-bod.

Yes, it'll bolt right up.

BUT I wonder how much it will be for a crate motor?

BTW anyone heard what kinda MPG the LS2 is supposed to produce?

odds are, it will be swapable. Pretty stupid for GM to make new bolt pattens and such. waste of money unless it warranted improvement.

LS2 will prob get the same gas milage as the LS6. Its all about BSFC and i doubt it will change much.

That should be badazz... :drive:

Not to create a thread within a thread...but LS2 VS. LS6 swap? I'm thinkin' the LS2 is a 'better' engine (to use a general term)....any thoughts?

having more cubes is always good.

Hmm I bet that will be a 15 grand crate motor at first.

I've heard the heads do flow better and has higher compression. Also a flatter torque curve.

do YOU know the current head flow specs?:p

I'd highly advise selling all your spare LS6 and Ls1 heads now while thye might be worth someting.. thats my 2 cents.

similar to Z06 in terms of lift.. thats all i know. .550 is really pushing it for a stock factory car. springs are expensive and its hard to get 100k miles out of them when the motor revs high and lifts high.

The hot ticket will be using:

LS2 block
Stroker kit
LS2 intake mani
AFR 225 heads
Medium sized cam.

You will have an all-aluminum 408ci motor fairly cheap that will push roughly 500rwhp/500rwtq with excellent street manners that will run off pump gas, without resorting to expensive sleeved or C5R blocks.

LS2 Heads flow very well. I've seen the flow numbers but i forgot where i saw them at.

Take the advice from TreyZ28.

whoops, this is about Ls2 :o

my dislexic ass saw it as a 7 for some reason. I know the LS2 heads are pretty nice. Its the LS7 ones that will make you all poop your pants and throw them at your neighbor :o

McRat:
the ticket is just Ls7... no mix match or combo to speak of, LS7. Ok, maybe a cam and bolt ons. Full bolt on and cammed LS7 (stock heads/intake) should have no problem pushing the bounds of good taste :D

depending on weight, i wouldn't be suprised if someone hit 9s NA on stock heads and intake:)

:haha: I think i made the same mistake. LS7 heads are gonna be great.

LS2 Heads are just revised ls6 heads.

Yea but wouldn't a whole LS2 shortblock cost 10k until 2007? Whats wrong with just bolting on the LS2 heads after getting a mild workover on the ports, a cam, and calling 450rwhp a day?

If you want to wait over a year, yes.

But the Aluminum LS2 block is going to be a favorite of engine builders in the near future, as is the intake manifold. The hottest heads right now are probably the AFR's, which are no more $$$ than ported LS6 heads.

With the cheap stroker kit (408 kit), the GM block, etc, you can probably build a 500rwhp LS1 engine for <$7000 in parts, which if you've priced 500rwhp engines, is a bargain. Will a stock LS7 kick it's ass? Probably not.

It would be cheaper and you could go faster with just doing a H/C on your current LS1.

Now if you blow your motor up that is another story:cool:

You'll also have to move/extend some harnesses for the different sensor locations on the LS2. The TB may also pose some issues at first until a non-DBW unit is made. I don't know about the reverse compatibility of an older TB onto the LS2 off the top of my head though.

why waste the money or effort to put an LS2 into an fbody when you could toast an LS2 with a good heads/cam package for way cheaper :dunno:
