the vortec unit holds up fine, it's the motor you got to worry about. running 6 psi with a good tune, you could see good reliability and with some luck, decent longevity. running over 9 psi is not a great idea on a stock motor. on a stock car, with presumably headers, you could see 360-380rwhp with an aftercooled vortec unit.

A friend of mine saw 380 rwhp with his LT1 and Vortech s-trim w/o the aftercooler and stock motor (w/RK Sport 1.75" headers). Unfortunately he grenaded shortly thereafter.

Moral: keep your boost on the low side w/stock motor.

Would that be one of DTK's famous one-pass grenades?

Tuning tips from the wizard:

- max out timing across all tables
- lean it out till you hear the pistons screaming

It was on the wideband at ARE and a/f looked OK. He blew it up on the street shortly thereafter, tho.

It had a smaller pulley, making between 7-8# boost. Bigger injectors + upgraded external fuel pump. All the standard stock motor stuff.
