A few months ago i replaced my nylon headlight motor gear with the brass one. This is the driver's side motor and just starting tonight it did the same noise as when the nylon gear wore out. No way that the brass gear can wear out that fast. Anyone else have this happen with the brass gear?

Maybe the motor itself is starting to go out :dunno:

Take it back out and check the teeth on it. If all looks good, then it may be the motor. :(

Took it back out and sure enough there were three of the brass gear teeth worn out. There were also some brass filings cuz of the worn out part. It seemed like the epoxy didn't hold well the first time i did this so i went and made sure that the epoxy had good contact on both parts of the housing. Regreased the brass gear and worm gear.

I also did the free fix cuz of the worn out portion of the gear. Hope this works!!

I'm thinking about throwing this fuckin headlight motor and running it over with a pavement roller. I got it all back together and it worked. Then after about 5-7 practice tests it is doing the same thing. The epoxy doesn't hold. I don't have time to wait a full day for it to fully cure until sometime next week. It'll continue to wear out the brass gear inside. I have to be at work at 3 today. It'll rain on thursday so i can't work on it.:angry::squintfu: GM for designing shitty headlight motors for pontiac!!

Well i guess i'll just buy a new headlight motor cuz for some reason even with the brass gear it doesn't want to work. I did it the best i could. I went out and bought 2 c-clamps and let the epoxy set 12+ hours with it being clamped and still doesn't work. Also my headlight doesn't come on. The high beams come on but the low beam doesn't work. It's the same side that has the problem with the gear.
