Hey, I'm looking for some aftermarket rims for my 79 Trans Am Gold SE. im looking for aftermarket ones because the stockers are just way too thin.

what would look good? i know Smoothie II's are nice, but the smooth look of the Smoothie doesn't go as well with the sharper more angled look of the car.

what do u suggest? keep in mind the car is gold, so chrome won't look too great (either gold or black rims). thanks!

How about those Billet aluminum Rally II 17"-18" wheels they have available now:think:

I have yet to see them on a car, but they look pretty sweet:cool:

Here's a pic of their 17" Chebby Rally Wheels on a 1st Gen

If my car was gunna be anything but a weekend cruiser, I would consider them:cool:

Rick has the right idea IMO. Those snowflake wheels are heavy as all hell too.
Secondly what is the car going to be doing? Road racer? Drag strip bruiser? What kind of a look ya going after? If it's drag racing, a set of centerline solids, or Weld prostars are timeless. Absolutely gorgeous wheels. For some road racing wheels hrmm....lemme think. The BBS GT wheel is gorgeous. Multispoke gold face with a silver lip :drool

Pretty much any 10-12 multispoke 17 inch BBS wheel would look good on a 79 T/A. The second gens just look gorgeous with modern wheels on them for some reason if ya ask me :)

Or if you go to any local tire/wheel shop they should be able to give you a catalog that you can flip through and see what you like. :yup:

i mean the Centerline Solids and Weld Prostars.

I would probably opt for the Fiske Profil 10 if i wanted a nice 10 spoke with that style, or the HRE 540R.

its weird, the 2nd gen TA is just such a busty car, the rims need some thick spokes to match its styling.

Oh the centerlines? Gimme a sec, summit has em.

Some people think they're redneck, but I love em on certain cars.

Classic. I'll probably end up running those on the 67 for strip duty :)

hmm, the thing is, i dont know what color rims to get either. if the car was a Black and Gold, id get Gold rims hands down.

however, since its gold, gold rims may be too much, and i dont know how black rims would look.

i think ill post a few pics up in the wheel/tire forum and ask for photoshop assistance.

btw, u have any good, large side pics of a Gold TA? thanks :)

I'd go gold on a gold TA. On the 2nd gens, if the car is gold or if it has gold accents, hood bird, etc., then gold wheels look great.

Well black faced rims with a silver lip would look good on a gold t/a perhaps.....kinda offset the abundance of gold, and bring out the highlights in the black bird. Damn I'm starting to sound like a hairdresser now. :\
