Ok, this is the biggest pet peeve I have, and dear lord does it irk me off.

My truck is parked outside, so when we get 3 feet of snow dumped on it, the windows are always frozen, etc.... and if you drive down the highway, the back window gets frozen, etc.

Anyways, WTF was GM thinking when they put the rear defrosters in these trucks working they way they do? I mean it's absolutley just STUPID how it works. You turn it on, and 2 minutes later, it shuts itself back off again  So every 2 frickin' minutes you're turning it back on to keep your damned rear window defrosted when you're driving down the highwya...

I mean it's friggen rediculous ...

I would *LOVE* to fix this stupid thing so it actually worked, eg, it didn't shut itself off.

Does anyone have any info on how I might go about accomplishing this?

Only way I know that would keep it from cutting off every two minutes is to bypass the pcm relay trigger and use a constant trigger signal. I know a schematic or pcm pinout would be more helpfull but I dont have access to one, sorry.

argh.

that was what I was afriad of, the defroster went through the PCM just like every other friggen' stupid thing on this truck does

I guess what I might just try to figure out how to do us use the factory switch but run my own relay to the defroster...

I mean seriously WTF is the point of even having this thing on there the way it (doesn't) work?

They probably integrated that in as a safety feature for the unattentive users that would leave it on an burn it up. Although I agree with you, 2 min is a little short. Maybe 10 min like the acc power after you turn off the key. Luckly I live way down south where we dont have that problem. :D

Mine stays on longer than 2 minutes. Maybe it's just yours.

sounds like you have a lot of hot steam inside the vehicle, try cracking the windows a bit it may help.:D

No, what happens is, is if you have a heavy snow, and your bed fills up with snow, when you go driving down the highway, it all blows back up and out, and it sticks to the window and freezes.

The friggen defroster shuts off all the damned time so it doesn't keep the glass hot enough to keep it from freezing, and it's just a royal pain in my ass :(
