That bears a striking resemblence to the GTO, I thought they atleast re-skinned the Monaro when they made the GTO

Nope, front/rear facia is about as big as it gets so far as looks.
As for the new model I'd buy one in black and swap the bonnet to get rid of those bloody scoops.

I have read that the scoops are completely cosmetic on the new Munro, just plastic behind the mesh. I hope it's not true, that would be super lame.

Probably because us Americans want scoops, even if they are not functional, and they used the same hood for cost savings. I say if you have scoops they better be functional or its just dumb.
I would love to get a GTO and put the Holden parts on it. That would be sweet to have in the US.
