I wanted to test the Meziere EWP out back-to-back to see if there were any hp gains, so I went to MMT in Dallas on Saturday and dynoed with the stock water pump and then the Meziere.

I gained 0 hp and -1 torque going to the Meziere!

Here's the stock water pump dyno graph.

And here's the Meziere dyno.

Here's a graph with the best runs from the stock water pump and the Meziere.

As you can see there was no hp to be gained, but the cooling and looks are something most people would go for.

With the stock pullies instead of the ASP pullies I might have seen some small gains, but I would consider the ASP to be the better buy.

what were the differences between stock pullies and the ASP's?

my buddy just did this mod and he swears by it...says he felt a noticeable gain and his car is running A LOT cooler...no dyno numbers yet to back it up tho

About 4rwhp and 4rwtorque.

I thought it was stronger too, until I dynoed it.;)

Usually after any mod, a person will mentally make themselves feel power.

I've seen people on boards swear up and down they felt a 4HP gain in the butt meter.

That’s about right. The main advantage of an electric water pump is better overall cooling, not increased HP. Also did you use a 160-degree thermostat? Everything I have read and seen has always pointed to that LS1’s make more power when they are warmer. I’ve seen people lose power (like 5 RWHP) when they install a 160-degree thermostat. Chances are you did gain HP with the electric water pump, but 160-degree thermostat killed what little HP you gained cause the engine is running cooler. If you want, try sticking a stock thermostat in and see what it dynos then. :)

Oddly enough, I have the exact opposite problem, I have a terrible butt meter and cant notice changes that I should... :D

But even the most calibrated butt-meters wouldnt notice a 4 HP increase.

All the runs were done at 170-175* engine temp, so the thermostat wasn't a factor.

Anything higher than 180* usually results in lower dyno numbers anyway by 2-3hp.

me too

Seems a lot are showing zero gains from this mod, yet on LS1tech people say they gained a lot from it. Wierd.

That's odd. Everything I have seen and read states that anything lower than stock thermostat and you will lose 2 or 3 RWHP.

The gains on the Meziere vary. If you already have a an underdrive pulley you may not see any gains from the Meziere, as the drag from running the pump is less with an UD pulley.

Now, one of the other things you can do is run no belt on the car. Try a dyno with no belt on the car. You'll see about an 8HP gain. The P/S pump begins to cavitate at high RPM, and will cause a loss of power. Same thing holds true for the WP. At high RPM, when either pump begins to cavitate, they cost HP.

Good info. I'll mark that off my list off future maybe mods.

Me 500. When I put my headers/ORY-pipe on, I couldn't feel much of a difference. I took it to the track and they knocked off .5 secs.

I installed and uninstalled the meziere 4-5 times on 2 peoples cars, and both people could "feel" the difference between it before and after. The first one was bone stock though, including the crank pulley.

<shrug> Its another one of those mods like the 2001+ intake manifold where some people gain and some people dont I guess.
