View Full Version : double hump heads...hmm

so, Im planning my SBC build up for the winter, and I have a set of Double Hump heads ready to go. I was wondering, what size of combustion chamber do these heads have? I'm replacing the dished slugs that are in it now, and getting some forged flat-tops and I need to know the CC of the combustion chamber to decide the compression ratio. I've heard that these heads are low 60cc's, but I'd like to hear from other people. Also, how well can these heads be made to flow with some head work?

I'm think I'm gunna go with JE forged flat-tops (good idea? any other decent manufacturers?) with the stock rods. It's a 4 bolt main block, and it has a steel crank. Am I safe to run some juice on this set up if I get bored in the future?

is there any other forum on the net that is directed more towards early SBCs?

any help is appreciated.
P.S. - I asked this question is this part of the forum because I figured this is where the people who know older equipment hang out. Sorry if it's in the wrong forum.

If you can give me the casting #'s I will tell you. There are several versions and applications.

damn  .I don't know the castings, where would they be? (if I get a chance to take a look). If it helps to classify them, they are the "300 horse heads". what did the sizes range from?

Look under the valve cover. The casting #'s will be in the area of the springs
