car acting up after headers?

any reasoning of why my z06 is warmed up after a while that when i try to go WOT it seems to stumble around and no accellerate very well??? runs like a beast for the 1st 10 minutes or so of driving

no tuning on the car at all

no cats at all either


running 93, seemed to run fine for quite a few miles after i put my headers on so i am not sure if i fouled the plugs from it being rich or what???

.. or fouled your front O2s, what do your LTFTs look like..... do you have any data logging capability... that will probably tell you what is happening if you are not setting any obvious codes :)

I'm going to go out on a limb and say 100% that it's your o2's. Had the exact same problem and still having it. For some reason my car just didn't like o2's. I've gone through 5 of them in about 6 months. :mad:

you're not getting any SES lights right? Maybe when you put the O2s back in one of the wires dropped down and hit the header? (which would blow the engine sensor fuse) ... just a suggestion (I just had a similar issue w/my car... )

Also there aren't any exhaust leaks right? When I first installed my LT headers last year I had a small exhaust leak... car ran like arse

No I still haven't got it tuned yet but in about 2 weeks I should have it done.

Having your rear o2's not plugged in with stock tune will absolutely make you car run like crap. How long are you going to wait to get the tune. If not pretty soon then I would suggest in buying some sims.

this is 300% completely and totally false. The rear O2's DO NOT affect performance.

at WOT the front O2's are not used. Sounds more like plugs due to running rich.

I get the same thing and when I replace the fronts it goes away for about 2-3 months and then it comes back. Replace them and goes away.......and keeps repeating. Bad thing is that I never get a SES light when they go out.

you can use the 2 you have left over. I would swap plugs first. 12$ is way better than god knows O2's cost

I would do what smiley said and swap the position of the O2's to see if the problem follows. If not, you can then look at unplugging your A/F gauge and see if it helps.

The two stock ones from the rear works on the fronts. Also do plugs first.

TR55's are what you want. I don't know if they are pregapped but you should check the gap on all sparkplugs before you install them. Gappers are like less than a buck at any and all auto parts stores.

TR6 are the colder heat ranged plugs for Nitrous or forced Induction...

TR55 are stock heat range

:p :D (prolly just a typo on your part)


TR55 are .055 gapped and I believe TR5s are .035 gapped... but both are stock heat range
TR6 are .035 gapped and 1 heat range colder than stock (TR5/TR55)

FOUND THE ISSUE I THINK



the #3 and the #6 spark plug wires came off teh spark plug somehow have teh stock wires so it is hard to tell with teh metal covers if they clicked or not

they musta worked off somehow since they worked fine for awhile
