How do I change the clutch/plate assembly in my 03? I'm guessing its hard as hell to do. I wanna do it in my garage if at all possible.:help:   :grumble:

i might need a new one soon too :dunno:
also what are some decent cheaper replacement options for my z06??
This swap involves dropping the *entire* rear end/transaxle assembly, torque tube, exhaust system from the cats-back (including passenger side exhaust manifold), and clutch/flywheel bellhousing.
It is a BIG job. Have it done professionally if you've never done one before. This is one job you don't want to screw up.
Expect to pay a pro $450-$700 in labor. It ain't cheap cause it ain't easy.

For a good aftermarket replacement, try search and ask around, as there are plenty of options out there- which one is best for you depends on a combination of the depth of your pocket book and your goals/desires for performance vs. drivability. I personally use a Spec Stage 3. My car is currently putting out 420rwhp and may see as much as 450-480rwhp, so I wanted a clutch that could hack it. If I were looking to stay in the low 400's for power, I would go with a Spec Stage 2 w/Kevlar, because it's smoother (feels like stock).
Other options out there include Centerforce, McLeod, Ram, and Cartek (there's more, but those seem to be the most popular).

Based on my experiences, I highly recommend a new slave- might as well have a fresh one in there while they're replacing the clutch, and an adjustable master is a good idea as well (optional). Aftermarkets clutches like Spec are not self-adjusting like the OEM unit, so the engagement point WILL move as the friction surface wears down. Having an adjustable master allows you to keep it where you want it. Expect to pay another $300 for the adj master.
IMO, if you're going to do a clutch swap on a C5, have it done right. It's more expensive initally to replace everything including the hydraulics, but you'll save yourself some trouble and expense in the long run.

Wouldnt it be easier to pull the motor?

I seriously doubt it. There are far more peripheral accessories (wiring, etc.) hooked to an engine than there are to a driveline.
