LS2 in a Grand Am?? [Archive]

I have a 1989 Pontiac Grand Am and my dad just wrecked his C6. The motor is fine, but the car's rear and sides are completely trashed. I was thinking about taking the C6's LS2 and dropping it into my Grand Am. I am capable of doing all the work myself. I'm expecting to be in high to mid 10's. What do you guys think of my idea? Do you think it'll be worth the work?

do you have ANY idea as to what is involved ina FWD to RWD conversion? nevertheless a FWD to RWD front engine rear trans conversion? it will probobly be cheaper to buy a C6

My dad owns 2 chevrolet dealerships and his father (my grandpa) is very high up in GM and my dad was able to get a C6. I have the money so it isnt a problem, I just want to make a sleeper.

You can't make a sleeper...your putting the engine in a heavier fuckin car. BESIDES the fact if your dad wrecked a C6 he should be put on a firing line, and you along with it just to rid the world of his seed.

Ive been working on the car for a few years now, workin on the frame and body to get it ready for a better engine. I picked up the car from my neighbor who was getting rid of it just to be a project car that no one would ever suspect of having an engine such as the ls2 in it.

Actually, by seeing your replys, I have an even better idea. I think I'll take everything from the windshield on of the C6(which is still in good shape) and fuse it to the back end of my Grand Am. I have plenty of duct tape, a hot glue gun, and a whole lot of spare time. So thanks for the encouragement guys (especially from Satatic). Time for me to go to work. Tell me what you think of my new plans before I get going please.

I'm capable of EFI swaps such as this and I'm laughing. :) Basically if you have to ask all these questions, you're not generally capable of doing the work yourself; you end up taking it to a shoppe.

If you're staying FWD, you'll need a 4T80-E from a Cadillac, and you'll need to do some adaptation there, since the Gen IV and Gen III bolt pattern is Chevy + the top bolt, minus the bolt @ 01:30; the FWD Caddy eng. pattern is different. The torque steer would suck out loud. The 4T65-E might also work; I believe that's what they used in the FWD Gen III powered Impala and Monte test vehicles.

The RWD conversion would be one fierce amount of work, way over most peoples heads. I don't think I need to justify this thread with detail on that.

Hornung8169 should be a little more careful of who has access to his account... because that kind of stuff is a good way to get booted. The "my friend used my computer" line is about like saying "my dog ate my homework".
