Currently have only changed out head unit, added amp and sub. Also have a Keg (20gig MP3 player that looks like CD changer to head) that isn't pictured.

Next adding another amp and speakers so I can rip the last of that @!#$ Monswamp system out!

Nice setups! Do you want movies when your driving?

My setup hasn't changed since high school, over 3 years ago. It's still the best sounding car audio system I've heard, which isn't saying much. The Vifa componets have a huge sound stage when powered by the four channel amp bridged. My install isn't very well done so midbass and rattling are problem areas.

haha :) the passangers love it :D I'm currently working on an upgrade. I've got a 7" 16:9 Touch Screen, that does VGA 1024X768 Resolution. I have a laptop in the back (brocken screen) that will be connected to it. I plan on running my EFILive, and LS1Edit off the Laptop that will be permenatly mounted in my car. :)

Eclipse head unit
PAC SWI infrared control so I can use the factory steering wheel stereo controls
MB Quartz seperates in the doors
MB Quartz 6.5" coax speakers in back seats
12" dual voice coil Image Dynamics sub in stealth box
Orion 400x4, one side bridged to the sub, the other side powering the internal speakers

I initially set it all up to be easily removable for trips to the track, but it stays in there most of the time nowadays.

i've never run dynamat in my TA, but I did in my old explorer it helped a ton with the rattling in that pos :D btw don't buy dynamat, go to Lowes or Home Depot and get some stuff called Peal N Seal, or Peal N Patch. it's usually in the roofing section, it's pretty much the same stuff works just a well and is a fraction of the cost :D

I thought you couldn't screw your amps down there because of the fuel tank? I'd much rather have them there than on the back wall, as long as it doesn't interfere with t-top storage. Can you still put your tops back there? (I know your n20 bottle is in the way...)

317indy
02-20-2004, 12:18 AM
Sorry, but I dont have a T-Top. But I think it would interfer with the t-tops. Your fuel tank is there, however it has two metal layers, and then the fuel tank which is plastic.

The screws are only like half inchers anyway.

I am not sure how Bad A Z did it, but here is a pic of the way I had my amps in my 94.
http://venomoussvt.com/pewterz28/images/pics/v6nobumper.jpg

The only pic I had on the computer right now was the one where we took off the rear bumper. Anyway, I pulled up the factory carpet and placed a flat board about 1/4 of an inch thick and placed it under the carpet. I then screwed the amps into that board. The carpet helped hold the board down since the amps where screwed to the carpet then to the board, so I didn't have to secure the board. Held up good the 4 years I had the amps like that!!

The tank is far enough down, just don't use some ungodly long screw, lol. The screws that I used are like a half inch in length at best.

There isn't NEARLY enough airspace in that stealthbox for a W7 is there????

Or isn't it a stealth box at all?

I'm working on getting a JL 1000/1 to run 2 10W7s in a subthump box. I'll buy another little JL amp to power my Diamond components. I'm not in a hurry so i'm just watching Ebay for some bad @ss deals on that 1000/1.

Alot of people say that. I made a new backseat out of wood & fiberglass with a fan system built into it. I then went to the local store and bought some foam to cover it. Then I used the factory leather cover over it. When you look into my car, it looks like a normal stock backseat and can easily handle people throwing their backs into. It's got a softer foam on it now that makes it more comfortable, not that anyone sits back there anyway.
If you look at the pic "dpc00683" That's a pic of the seat folded down, showing the only visable proof that it is there. when the seat is upright, there is no evidence of anything non-stock. aside from the fact the seat back is noticably heavier

Nice work!
I've been considering something VERY similar.

Isn't there a way to actually just hollow out the stock back seat though and store the amps there without making an all new one?

So there IS enough room for W7s in those stealth box looking boxes eh? Hmm.....plans are changing.....

The factory back seat is very round, & has braces molded into it that take up too much space. It really is easier to build a new shell to maximize space. All square edges makes construction a breeze. Just cut the foam to make the overall shape. I tried cutting parts out of my factory seat, but too much space is wasted by the curves.

Well yes in a fiberglass box they can get more airspace, which the W7 reqiures A LOT of airspace for a 10 inch sub. Also the fiberglass that was used on my box is very very strong, to support the W7.
