Well i had some very minor paint work done on my car when i bought it, just to freshen it up, about a year ago. Well, when i did, the shop go backed up and i got my car back a day later than i was supposed to. To make it up to me they gave me a certificate for a free full detail. Driving my car all through the winter it has gotten a little rough, nothing major at all, it just needs a good claying and maybe a little M3 and buffer. But i was thinking, why not have someone else do it for me? Would you ever have someone else detail your car?

Not in your life time or mine. Nobody touches the bird.

Your idea of a detail and their's may be two completetly different things.....

I'd have my doubts.

if you know of a reputable shop that does good work then I don't have a problem letting someone else do the work for me especially since I usually don't have the time or the energy to do a lot of what is needed.

Go talk to the shop and see what they will give you for the certificate and ask them about what they use, their technique, and check out some cars up there they have already done.

Trust me usually about 5 mins. into a conversation with someone about detailing and you will know if they are gonna do a good job or not.

Me: "Can you get rid of some swirls I have on my paint"
Shop: Confused look
Me: "I have some swirls I was gonna see if you could buff them out with some compound and wax."
Shop: "Oh yeah we wax cars"

There are plenty of trustworthy detailers available in any area. You just have to know where to find them.

I don't claim to be the BEST, as I have only 5 years of experience and I'm learning new tricks all the time. I do provide great customer service and an EXTREMELY thorough job at an affordable price.

Vehicles with my TLC win shows all the time- most notably, 7 different awards at last month's Dallas Autorama. That's not much to brag about, but having over 500 satisfied customers and many repeat and regular clients IS something to be proud of.

Do some research, ask around, and find the car care pro who is right for you... or just do it yourself :)

Good dealer detailers are usually hard to come by.

I've only ran into a handful of quality detail jobs done by a car dealership, from Chevrolet dealers to Exotic car stores.

I've also heard the line "Oh I'll tell the dealer to not detail and wax it, and I'll just have you do it" like 500 times.

I've seen Cody's work and know people who have had him do work. So in my situation I would let someone do it. But in another area I would have to find someone with the same dedication I have to my car to even wash the car, much less polish and clay it.

Yes I would depending on the person who does it. I wouldn't just let anybody do it though.

I don't even allow my husband to touch the paint on my car much less detail it, he details the windows, tires and wheels. Then I do the rest inside, paint and underneath.

Never. Most detail shops hire kids for minimun wage. Do you think they care about your car like you do? A good body shop usually has someone learning the "ropes" so to speak doing all the detail work, or the body work flunkee - again. No.

I let a guy detail my car a few times and learned a BIG BIG lesson. He left big scratches all over my car the last time he detailed it and I had to get it wet sanded to get it back in order. I WILL NEVER let another detailer put a finger on my car EVER!

Nobody touches mine if I can help it

It got "detailed" after it got painted, and there was compound left all over the side of the car. It took everything I had to not yell at the guy, I just told him to get away and I'll take it

I work for a chevy - caddilac dealer detailing new cars and only new cars......with that said i will agree with earlier posts about a dealer detailing your car. when i do a car for the lot i do a decent job but im not obssevive... i cant afford enough time to be obssesive... plus its a waste of time... they will just sit back out on the lot and get bird crap on them and dust and people will test drive them in rain or snow. now when i do a car for the showroom i become an obsesive compulsive... almost more so than with my own stuff.... now when i do cars for individuals... they get the same job as a showroom caddilac or corvette.... unless its somebody wants his beater done... "hey... how much u charge to wax my wood hauler?... I dont wanna spend alot of money!"... then i just do a slam job

No, There may be some trustworthy detailers out there but honestly I enjoy washing, waxing, detailing my car almost as much as driving it! Pull it into the garage, turn on some music and immerge 4 hours later with a sparkling, shining car and a nice little beer buzz to go with that! My neighbor say they see me rubbing on it more than driving it!
