I went to a local 1/8 mile drag strip today. What happened was about what I expected.

Stock street tires + IRS + my meager driving skills = best time of 9.30 @ 78 MPH with wheels spinning/hopping all the way through first AND second.

It was my first time ever to go to a drag strip. My reaction times were all over the place, from 0.86 to 1.34 and I couldn't get a 60 foot better than 2.29.

I really need to learn how to drive. And if I want to get serious about drag racing, I need to build a project car built for the strip. Like I have enough money and time for another project...

Next up is going to the autocross and learning how to really drive. That's what this car is really set up for so that's where I want to focus my attention.

1/8 mile :dunno: :lame:

They don't have decent track there? Good luck launching that thing on street tires.. You probably are running 14's in the 1/4. I have seen many WS6 cars do the same. That tire spin will kill you.

The 1/8 mile track is the closest track to me. The 1/4 mile tracks are a bit more of a hike and I'm not sure if they're open yet. Besides, with my lack of skill driving, there's little point in driving all the way to a 1/4 mile track just to run 14's.

At the track I went to, it was $15 for as many runs as I want. So I can get all the launch technique practice I can handle. That ain't a bad deal because I could certianly use all the practice I can get.

I'm going to get a set of 275/40R17 drag radials and go back. That should help me hook up a little better. That and when it warms up, the VHT will stick better too.
